I initially thought this would be a great place to pick up a few staple pieces, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I was wearing a coat, as it was a chilly day, and because there were bins of clothes to sift through, I got warm and decided to remove my coat, placing it in the bag I brought with me. I completely understand that theft is a serious issue, but when I was accused of stealing, I was shocked. The owner told me he had reviewed the security footage and demanded that I empty my bag. I explained that it was my coat, which I had walked in with, but I was still asked to prove it by digging through my bag and coat pockets to find a receipt from the previous day. I was uncomfortable and felt unfairly interrogated, especially since the owner could have easily seen on the security footage that I had just taken the coat off moments before. It was frustrating that there seemed to be little attention paid when I initially entered the store, especially with just the owner and me inside. I liked the store itself, but after this experience, I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I don’t think i will be returning
in response to your reaponse: Thank you for your response. While I appreciate your apology, I want to express that a simple "sorry" doesn’t undo the way I felt during that interaction. I understand you’re running a small business and that theft is a concern, but when there’s only one customer in the store and you can’t properly monitor them, it might be worth re-evaluating your approach to theft prevention. I was in your store for over 15 minutes, digging through clothing, which I understand could have raised concerns. However, I was upfront with you when you questioned me, and I told you what was in my bag.
When you mentioned checking the cameras, I felt that you didn’t take the time to do so thoroughly. As a woman of color, being questioned by a white man, alone, was troubling. Normally, I wouldn’t leave a review, but this experience left me feeling off. If the security footage had been reviewed properly, you would’ve seen me walk in with my coat, then place it in my bag before tying up my hair to continue searching through the clothes.
Additionally, I was uncomfortable when you yelled at me as I was walking out the door to stop. As a business owner—whether small or large—that’s simply not an appropriate way to address or speak to customers. While I understand the challenges of running a small business and the need to protect against theft, no amount of apology could fix how that interaction made me feel, and I can’t ignore the sense of discrimination I experienced. I truly hope this feedback helps you consider how to avoid making other customers feel this way in the future.

First, this is a vintage store, not a thrift store. If you come for $2 bargains, you came to the wrong place. The prices are actually very reasonable. Go to any other vintage store in a large town and you'll pay double or more. The owner is super friendly, really cool guy, that knows his vintage clothes very, very well.
