I bought my 694 a year ago from Joel Etchen Co and aside from the actual purchasing experience everything has been lovely. I wanted to let this go but it continues to bother me. It was a Saturday with Joel and Adam in the shop. I was the first customer to arrive another came in as we were finishing. Joel was running the background process while Adam showed me 686s, specials, and 694s. Really took to the fit on the only B-Fast 694 they had but it had a "water mark" on the stock. Adam assured me it could be remedied. Adam says I'll go ring you up while Joel fixes. Please understand I'm about to buy a shotgun that cost more than the vehicle I drove there in is worth and his pushiness set off alarm bells. I said let's get this fixed then I'll buy it. Lots of attitude from Adam. He says it's going to happen anytime the gun gets rained on...but this is a brand new $4,500 gun (and spoiler alert it hasn't happened and I've been forced to finish tournaments in downpours.) I'm keeping my cool because I really want this shotgun. Drove out the night before, stayed in a local hotel, had courses picked to shoot at later that day. I wanted to make this a great experience I would remember for the rest of my life. Joel whips out the finishing kit and steel wools trouble spot, mentions this does happen from time to time and their is another employee there that is a real pro at fixing you've gotta be careful not to take too much off. He goes over it once, still there a bit, goes over it a second time and all is well. Joel total quiet professional the entire time. Finally time to roll! Adam rings me up I mention about how I'm going to shoot it next. Rolls his eyes, lectures me about what he told me about greasing it and tosses me a little container of choke grease. Beretta supplies oil with the gun so I was going to oil it and get grease later at a different establishment. If these guys are so big on grease why not include with every purchase? Good selection, great prices, okay customer service. P.S. check out the wood on this beauty, standard from Beretta! Definitely a big factor in my motivation to close the transaction! People commonly ask how I like my DT and I say...
Read moreMy experience purchasing a Beretta Silver Pigeon III was great from introduction to delivery. I live across the country and had my apprehension about making such a large purchase online without actually being able to see the product in person. This is the biggest purchase of a nonessential item I have ever made. (and I'm in my 60's). This is where Matt's assistance sealed the deal.... After talking to Matt about the three shotguns I had narrowed my search to, I identified to him the features in the wooden stock and forend that I find attractive. He recommended that I go with my #1 choice due to the high quality of the wood and it's beautiful myriad of color. However he did not stop there. Matt then took numerous photographs of the guns and e-mailed them to me. It was great! It made my choice much easier to make. I asked him to inspect the gun thoroughly for me prior to shipping. Matt informed me that Joel Etchen firearms are checked upon arrival to the store and again prior to shipping. The tracking number made the anticipation even greater and fun. It arrived one day early. When I went to my local FFL to pick it up, the shotgun aesthetics were in perfect condition. Perfect!! I will be shooting it for the first time tomorrow. BTW: the Beretta case in which it is delivered is very nice and highly underrated. It has the Beretta logo embossed into the front, three combination locks and is thin and sleek. Very attractive. Very seldom do I write positive reviews and never have I written one of this length, however this time it is certainly warranted. The purchasing experience, customer service and product are all exemplary. Don't even consider purchasing a Beretta shotgun without first checking out the extensive inventory of "in stock" firearms at Joel Etchen. Happy...
Read moreI have purchased 4 fine shotguns from Matt at JEG: Beretta 692, 694, 691, and a new JEG Deluxe SPIII Sporting. All of the guns have been beautiful, flawless, error free guns. Matt is responsive and easy to work with. His communications are short and to the point. The process is easy: 1) ID the type of gun you want, 2) go to the JEG site and browse their full inventory of in-stock guns, 3) hit the "heart' icon to save your potential top 3-4 candidates, 4) send the JEG model #'s to Matt and ask for more pictures (the stock pictures are not great), 5) select the one you like best and send the stock # to Matt along with your FFL address/phone # and a link to their license, 6) Matt will contact you to finalize payment and answer any questions, 7) you should see your new gun in less than a week. Matt has sent me dozens of pictures of over the years when I can't decide. I received all four guns promptly and in excellent condition--they have reduced the online gun purchase process to practice. I traded in two of the guns I purchased from JEG back to Matt to upgrade to other models and he has given me a fair and decent trade value with obvious allowances so they can also make a little $$ on the transaction. Be warned, buying a fine gun online though JEG is definitely convenient, but it is going to be more costly than buying one at your local shop--taxes+shipping+insurance+FFL fees--but the problem is inventory. Your local gun shop most likely does NOT have the majority of the JEG inventory in stock, maybe they can order a model for you, maybe not, and if they can, you have no idea what you're getting till you open the box. Buying from JEG allows to review all the inventory before purchasing--that's a big advantage and worth the...
