My wife and I decided to go with the Pie Shoppe for our special day. They were a preferred vendor for our location, they had the best reviews, and they had the best tasting cakes! We ordered a very special naked cake, because that's what my wife had always wanted. Additionally we ordered 200 donut-holes; to be sitting out along side our popcorn bar and cookies. Right before we make our entrance into our reception, the owner of the lodge we were at, tells us that our cake still hadn't arrived. (We were told that the cake would be delivered at 1:30, just before the ceremony. It was now 4:00) When I called and asked where our cake was, the response I got was "Was that today?" Do you have any idea how much that statement hurt? As if by your company's standards, our wedding... our special day wasn't as important to you as every other wedding you did. She went on to say that they must have lost our order slip, and that they didn't have anything for us. Also that this had never happened before I can't tell you how close to throwing my phone I was. How do you forget to make a wedding cake for a couple's most important day of their lives!? The attempt that was made to fix the problem came 5 hours after it should have been delivered. The cake that was slapped together for us, had the wrong fruit toppings on it. The donuts and donut holes came from the Wal-Mart Bakery (I took pictures to prove it). The staff told me that the sheet cakes that were delivered also came from Wal-Mart. Nothing tasted good. It was bland and stale. By the time it was delivered, my guests had already eaten dinner. Some of them had already left. It was a disaster. My wife and I didn't eat our cake. It tasted bad. We didn't even want to cut it by the time it arrived. There were no pictures taken of our cake... because we didn't have "our" cake. We only had the slapped together attempt that you made because you forgot. If we had wanted a cake from Wal-Mart... we would have gone to them. On a personal note... not having your wedding order made or delivered on time really screws up the entire reception! The DJ had a set schedule for everything, including the cake cutting. Without a cake, it just completely messed up everything from dinner and toasts, to dancing and dessert. We don't even have the top layer of our cake for our one year anniversary. Despite how little we tried to let it show, it really destroyed our mood and happiness for the day. Thanks to your company, our first argument as a couple came over our lack of a cake. I'm ashamed to admit it, but it's true. We had hoped to speak with the owners, in an attempt to see what they had to say. At the very least get a letter from you. Yes, we received our money back... but only after we were asked if we wanted all or some of our money back. I really don't know what would make you think we didn't want our money back. Needless to say, I will never recommend your business to anyone. I feel very confident in saying that our 100+ guests will feel the same way. We didn't hide the fact that you forgot our wedding. We made sure that...
Read moreCalled this place at 4:25 pm to order a pizza. “Sorry, we close at 5, so we can’t do that.” They told me it takes 45 minutes to make a pizza, and they didn’t have any crust prepared.
“Okay, do you have anything else?” I said, feeling a little confused but still excited to try something from here. “Uh.... no.” Sigh. “Okay, well thanks anyway, goodbye.” Utterly disappointing.
Edit: I was determined to try food from this place since a friend recommended it, so i drove there around lunchtime a few days after my original failed attempt. The food was really good! Had a yummy piece of perogie pizza and my wife enjoyed this thing that was almost like a pepperoni roll with a hot dog inside. We shared a very delicious apple cinnamon dessert. And the person helping me was very nice. Overall, i’d give the food four stars: it was a great place to grab lunch or a snack, but i wouldnt go far out my way for it. We bought a harvest pie for our friends but haven’t tried it ourselves. Maybe the pie is worth going out of your way for,...
Read moreThe fruit pies have a nice dome top which usually means a lot of filling but when you cut into it, it's just a lot of empty space with a tiny bit of filling in the bottom. It's like a big disappointment after a big build up. Reminds me of the Three Stooges episode when they pup up the cake to get extra slices out of it. Lol. The fresh peach pie is basically canned peaches with some goopy filling. The Pumpkin pie is good, just add whipped cream. The lemon meringue pie actually tasted tart and sour...in a chemical, spoiled way. Overall, I'm suprised by the low quality of some items. I get better quality in the frozen section of the grocery store, so I'm perplexed about all of the hype. I've never tried their sandwiches at the shop but the coffee was pretty good. I'd say don't go out of your way or make a special trip to try it. Update: The pumpkin roll was unexpected but good. The cake had a kind of grittiness to it and the filling was very sugary but you could taste a bit of cream cheese. We liked it. Giving...
