I went to the danada equestrian center for the first time yesterday and as not sure where to go so went to the office. What a mistake on my part !
The office manager started to scream at me saying I was illegally parked and I should be ticketed I told her politely I will move the car And she becomes louder and more aggressive with an insulting tone !!
I tried to ask a question and she would not answer in a good pleasant manner.
After moving the car I saw a park district police car that I believe she solicited!!
I have know many park district employees and have always had wonderful interactions Sorry to say, this employee shouldn’t be in direct contact with visitors !!
Finally, I pay my property taxes and know that A portion is for the park district and its employees, the majority of whom are exemplary. However, this was not a favorable impression or experience yesterday with an “unpleasant employee” at Danada ,...
Read morei never rode horses here, so i can't really speak for that aspect of the center. however, i used to take my animal-loving client here all the time when i worked as a family support staff for kids with autism. said client never had much interest in the cosley animal zoo; i guess she liked to watch animals running around vs. sleeping in a cage. the staff were always friendly and obliging without being overly invasive, which is WAY more than i can say for most places/their treatment of people with disabilities. there was also a great set of wooded and prairie hiking trails; we had a lot of fun spotting birds by the pond. maybe i'm just nostalgic about this place/that job, but there's something to be said for it. my client had a lot of difficulty exercising and a lot of anxiety about venturing into the community, and she always felt right at home here.
i guess this an oddly slanted view, especially for a first...
Read moreThis used to be an awesome place where volunteers got real experience with, and education on horses. It was a thriving place for horses and volunteers. Now, it is a place of misery for the horses and the few volunteers it has do not get to interact with the horses or get an education about them. The volunteers get whatever information the staff wants them to know and nothing more. The horses have chains on their halters, because staff doesn't know how to properly train horses. They use force. It is horrible. You can see the tension in the poor horses faces in the riding photos( if you have any knowledge of horses) and they are in terrible shape and all on their forehands. So sad that such a great place was destroyed. I know, because I was fired for standing up for the horses...
