Very terrible experience with this dealership. I had brought my bike here to do a simple tire change and I will never bring another bike to this shop again. First, I called and made sure that they can replace the tires on my bike ( 2011 Ducati 1198 ) they told me that it didn't matter what kind of bike I can bring it no problem. I thought it was a little weird since a couple other shops told me they wouldn't do it since the rims apparently bend easily then normal rims. In any case, I called them the next day to make sure they had the tool to take off the rim, they then told me they might have it and to just bring the bike over, so I did. Sure enough they didn't have the tool. My tires were so bald that the wires were sticking out, the owner Mike didn't care that my tires were bald and told me to try riding down the block to some shop to see if they carry the tool. I was already upset because they told me to bring the bike without double checking to see if they had the tool but, I went ahead and went to the Ducati dealer to pick up the tool for $80. I dropped off the tool and they were able to change the tire. The next morning I got a call saying my tires were done, but the girl I spoke with now told me I needed rear brakes. She told me that I only had about 10% left in the pads, I told her that I didn't need them to change it as I would be selling the bike. Anyway, she goes on saying that I need the brakes and "if anything happens its on you bro', in my opinion that sounded unprofessional and doesn't put a very nice image in the customer's head. I picked the bike up later that day and spoke with the owner Mike, he told me he wanted to buy the tool off me but I told him that since I already paid the $80 for it and drove 40 mins back and forth to get it, I would keep it. He then asked if I'm sure and said he would take off $40 bucks from the bill, which was $190. HE WANTED TO BUY THE TOOL HALF PRICE FROM ME AFTER THEY DIDNT HAVE THE TOOL TO GET THE JOB DONE THAT THEY AGREEED TO DO! I was upset and told him I will be keeping the tool and told him that next time he agrees to work on someone's bike to make sure he has all the necessary equipment to get the job done. After I left and got home I noticed a crack on my bottom fairing. Since they didn't have the tools to take off the rim I doubt they had the right tool to lift up the Ducati bike. They 100% messed up my fairing and I wish I would have noticed it right on the spot.
Basically these guys shouldn't agree to work on a bike that they have no idea how to work on. They didn't have the right tools and didn't care about the customer one bit. I also forgot to include that the tire pressure was way off as the rear was set at 45 psi and the front was 40 psi. It has the specified amount right on the frame that says 39 rear and 32 front. Never bringing my bike there again and already told all of my buddies not to bring their bikes there too. A lot of them agreed that Rich's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was in search of a limited 2022 60th GP anniversary edition Yamaha YZFR1 and called several dealerships to procure one, only to find out that most power-sport shops (even though many āsaidā they could get me one) were NOT able to attain one for me via order⦠let alone even one for their own inventory I noticed now after looking around since I have mine! After speaking with the āvery fewā nice & honest (some were sketchy and wanted a down payment w/o any promise, which ya know usually leads to a bait & switch when they canāt get you what you want) shop owners that admitted they probably couldnāt get me one, I came to understand that a dealership not only has to be in very good standing with Yamaha (i.e. well rated and in business for a respectable amount of time), but is ALSO required to sell a certain amount of these upper tier & expensive bikes per year to be on the āconfirmed listā for special models. Frustrated I continued to call well rated dealers further & further in radius of me in hopes of finding a sure deal. I was super happy (though almost didnāt believe at first) when I called Richs and was told āYES we can get you oneā! Also from the get go I was able to work with the very personable Misty, who is the shop founders daughter! I totally appreciated this since we are both small family business owners, and we developed a nice rapport. I have to say she was more helpful (and accommodating to since I was not able to pick up my bike for a bit after she arrived there) than any other power-sports sales person I have ever dealt with :) I also have to give honorable mention to John the service manager, as he was helpful in loading my new toy safely into my trailer. overall it was long day & 160mi drive r/t to pick up my R1 but couldnāt have hoped to buy her from a better shop, and would highly recommend them for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy friend and I visited Rich's on 8/26/20 to buy a generator. We wore COVID masks because we live in Chicago and masks are required everywhere to shop. A sign on the front door asked us to wear masks. There was a sanitizing station set up inside. No masks were worn by employees. Out of the roughly 10-15 customers (including women and children), we saw one person wearing a mask on his way out. 5 minutes later a lanky, 50-something, thin-haired Yamaha employee (we thought he was the owner but perhaps he was just a salesman?) began playing a video with audio so loud the entire store could hear it. This video made statements attacking the use of masks. Something like "Masks are government mind control, the next step will be for the gov't to make everyone use a vaccine, socialism is coming for you, Donald Trump is under attack, your religious freedom is being threatened, etc." We were both convinced this Yamaha owner/employee? was playing the video to confront us as the only mask wearers in the store. My friend said, "You want us to take our masks off or what?" This slim older Yamaha "employee" replied, "Wear it if you're scared." My friend stepped up to this employee and forcefully stated "I'm not scared, are you scared?" The situation immediately escalated. Apparently the employee didn't realize my buddy doesn't suffer fools (or insults) gladly. The Yamaha "employee" stopped talking and my friend stepped outside for the rest of the transaction. I've never been made to feel uncomfortable at a place where I'm trying to spend $1778.83 before. One of the worst transactions I've ever been part of. Completely unprofessional. Totally unnecessary. SIDE NOTE: Misty and John were both friendly and helpful. Misty was clearly uncomfortable with the...
