Update 2024 - We visited again due to son being selected our country Horse King(we decided to tour surrounding county fairs and invite them to ours). As soon as we entered the grounds a past royalty approached us and introduced herself told us where to go and would contact this year’s royalty that we were here. She did find us and gave a tour of the fair and gave a goodie bag. The royalty group that I seen and waited at the Jr fair office was very kind. The main building near the front entrance was air conditioned and very nice bathrooms. The arena was attached to the back side of this building. The fair was easy to navigate because of the spacing of the building and they were kept clean by the youth. It was very hot and humid the day we were there and they had the doors open for the animals and lots of fans! We also seen there very large covered arena that was beautiful! This wasn’t a large fair but had a lot of agricultural animals. There were a good selection of food trucks that I seen. Places to sit in the open and in shaded areas around the grounds which were very nice. The landscape was pretty much flat and mostly easy to get around (mostly cemented). They also had pickup area from parking area to the main area and back with signs. Overall a nice clean, agricultural, friendly fairgrounds. Most of the fair buildings have been updated and are beautiful. They have large open doors(garage) that can allow breezes to come through and large fans to keep the animals and youths showing cool. A lot of the animals were gone when we were here due to the decisions of the fair board because of the virus(not against just sharing the info)from what was told. Just showing how nice and clean the fair is and making the animals, 4-h /FFA kids, and parents comfortable. Would come back here again!

The historical society Barn is now just for storage. They're basically are no crafts or anything else to see. Everything is in tents , The only thing in Barnes are animals. No more displays. It's sad and now instead of rides all day the rides are just partial day and from what I understand the bracelet is $25 and it's $10 to get in and $10 to park. Not really worth it. I'll keep going to Fayette County where you pay one price and that includes your bracelet. Sorry Madison County you just keep going more and more downhill.

Stopped by the Madison County Fairgrounds for the county fair and had a blast! The demolition derby was the best I’d ever seen and all the food I had was delicious! Only reason I’m giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because they don’t sell any beer or wine during the fair, like it’s a fair! You need a beer tent!

The Madison county fair for July 2022 was a huge letdown. Entry was $10. They should have called it the 4-H fair. Literally the only thing there was 4-H animals and livestock. Ride that weren't even running and only for small kids. Barely any rides at all. Hardly any merchants. Not very many food merchants either. It was such a huge disappointment. I cannot believe how downhill it has gone. And now they're left with straight cats because they got rid of their barns for the horses. Now the cats have no place to go and they're not being relocated either. This is extremely disappointing I cannot believe nothing is being done about it I hope they...
