Update 3/16/17: Adding a star because the owner contacted me a few days after my experience to apologize and offer me what I think is a fair discount on the work for my hassle. I've been traveling and haven't had time to take it in yet, but will report back here if/when I finally do.
Original review: I'm sure these guys do good work, but I never got that far. Last week I arranged to drop off my truck for a driver's seat recover, and was quoted a price on the high end of the range I expected, but since they seemed to have a reputation for good quality work on other sites, I agreed to drop it off this morning, as long as it would be done the same day. That was important to me because I needed it back for a long trip starting the next day. The owner also cut a square out of my seat to make sure he could match the color. I didn't love that, but figured it wouldn't matter because they're going to replace the leather, right?
So, I dropped it off as agreed, the owner wasn't in yet, but the shop tech drove me home in my truck, and then took off back to the shop with it. I stopped by around 1PM to check on the progress, and the owner was out, so I spoke to his son. My truck was parked right in front of the shop, and the work wasn't started yet, which I should have taken as a warning sign. Got a call a little after 5 PM from the owner apologizing that no one told him my truck was there so he didn't start the work. Did I mention it was parked in front of the shop? :-)
I accept that mistakes happen, and the owner was definitely apologetic, but part of what makes a good business to me is running an organized shop. And, when a business makes a mistake that inconveniences me, I appreciate it when they try to make it right. I would have been okay if S&S would've have offered a small discount on the work for my trouble, or at least a ride down to the shop to pick it up when they goofed up, but neither were offered, so I rode my bike down to pick it up. The owner again blamed the shop techs for not telling him it was there, which isn't isn't a good way to manage, either. Yes, the techs might have dropped the ball, but by not having a ledger of customers for the day or a place to sign in, he's not doing his part as the shop owner, either.
So, I'm worse off than when I started. I have a 1" square hole in my still-ratty, broken-down seat, lost an hour out of my day, and I'll now have a sore butt after my long drive this week. And if I want the seat fixed when I get back, sorry buster it's still full price. Yes, it could be worse, so my advice if you want to do business with this shop: hound 'em and make sure the owner is 100% engaged in every step. Get his mobile number of you have to. Me? I'm probably not going back. Time to order...
Read moreI sent an email to S & S upholstery on 7/24/22 asking if I could get the seat for my motorcycle upholstered. They actually responded within a few hours and said it could be done in about one day. I dropped it off the next day and said I just needed it back by Friday the 29th and Brad said that would be no problem. Well I never heard from anyone and sent an email telling him to just forget about it because I had to leave town in the morning. Most reputable businesses would have responded with an apology but I heard nothing. When I got home on 8/3/22 I went to his shop to pick up my seat and the material, he saw me, picked up the seat and material right from the place he set it when I dropped it off, he said nothing and just handed it to me and went about whatever he was doing. It seems they must be way to busy for such a small job even though he said they could do it in one day and he HD 6 days plus 3 more while I was out of town. I thought maybe he would do it to try and make a customer happy but evidently that's not how they do business. I would be very wary of taking your small projects there. They really don't care and obviously didn't want my business. He could have just told me he was to busy or that my motorcycle seat was to small of a job. I could have taken it to someone who wants my business . Bad business practices at this shop and the shop is a complete disaster area. I'm surprised they can even find anything in...
Read moreWe contacted S and S to get a quote on reupholstering our patio cushions. I sent photos of all the cushions as requested. He texted us a quote on labor and materials. We went to his place of business to choose the fabric. He told he us it would take two weeks for the fabric to come in. When the material came in we took the cushions to him and he said he would have them ready in four days. Two days later he texted me to say he had gotten our project confused with someone else’s and had given us the wrong quote. It was almost three times more than he had quoted in writing and what had we had confirmed again verbally on the day we chose the material. I told him we were disappointed that he would not honor the quote. His response was “sorry for...
