This was my second time on this beautiful hilly course, but unfortunately my last thanks to the staff who work here. We play 9 holes every Wednesday evening somewhere in the Loveland area, so we are well aware of how things work and all game rules. We were told to pick up the pace by the female Marshal when we were waiting on the twosome in front of us. She assumed it was us because we are women and didn't drive up to check on the golfers ahead of us that were the real reason for the slowness. She continually checked on us and made the experience extremely stressful. We golf for relaxation, exercise and being around our friends. This experience was not one any of us is willing to repeat. On the 8th hole she was waiting as I exited the green. I was then told I had to return the cart immediately as it was 7:30 p.m. I was unaware of this rule and I insisted that I would finish up quickly and return it as soon as I finished the last hole. I was not allowed to finish my round of golf and had to return the cart because it was past 7:30. Really? If it takes about 2- 2.5 hours for 9 holes and you can't use the cart you rented for the evening? The pro shop did not give this information to us upon rental and when I asked about this rule upon the return of my cart, the staff member just shrugged their shoulders and said "you were told" with no apology of how my game was shortened. I have worked in customer service my whole life and this is not how to treat customers! I don't agree with this rule and think a rental should include the entire time allotted to play the 9 holes which I paid for! As for the group of friends that golf with me, they said that the won't be...
Read moreOur foursome played Nov 2. Another foursome teed off 10 min before us. As we finished the front, we watched the group ahead drop to two players who continued on to hole 10. Our group was right behind at that time. Midway on the back, a marshal approached and told us we were slow because we didn’t keep up with the twosome ahead! At that point the foursome behind was spaced correctly with us, but by the end of our round, we were a full hole ahead of them. I inquired of the marshal how many minutes behind is our group based on a pace of play schedule good course managers develop and use as a point of reference. The marshal said he left that schedule in the pro shop. On 16 near the green, the marshal approached again, rudely scolded us for slow play and headed back to the pro shop instead of continuing to the group behind us that were definitely “slower” than us (probably locals he didn’t want to offend). After the round, I complained to Steve at the pro shop who berated our group for slow play and tells me when he plays, his foursome could keep up with a twosome…right??? I asked about the pace of play schedule and he admitted the course does not have one. This course lacks the quality personnel needed for effective operations. It is a municipal owned facility supported with taxpayer funds. Staff paid with public funds should be held accountable to the public it serves. Obviously, I would not play here again unless the staff I interacted with are either retrained...
Read moreVery fun layout and an organized clubhouse! That is 5 stars. The speed is no fun for an average (10+ handicap) golfer. Even if you meet the time requirements (first 4 holes in 1 hr, 18 in 4) you will still get told to speed up by the marshal. For instance, today I teed off as a 4 some and at the turn 2 of us got refreshments from the clubhouse before beginning the back 9. It was then expected that we keep up with the two who did not stop in the clubhouse. We were talked to twice, once after the tenth hole and again at say, 14, to which we just responded birdie and par (our scores for the hole). I saw the marshal slowing again after our tee shots on the eighteenth hole, so checked the time on my phone. 3 min beyond the four hour mark, with half a hole to play. But that's not fast enough at Ute Creek!! Expect to get told to speed up if you are not a competitive golfer, or willing to pick up your ball for the hole after 1 errant shot. I will add that they raked the sand traps today, which I have not seen since the start of COVID plandemic. If they slowed the pace slightly, more players might fix their divots and ball marks, and the condition would match the excellent design of the Robert Trent...
