I really wanted to give this place a higher review, but after the 2nd time here with I can say with confident that it deserves a one star because of Jim. The Staff are nice and tree selection is limited compared to some other sites, but those two items I am ok with 3-4 star. My issue is with Jim the old guy with the white hair. He wasn't very helpful and after buying a tree from their farm last week I came back to with my wife to get another tree because ours fell over because it was very big and top heavy and when the tree wasn't cut flat properly, over the course of a week it started to lean a little bit until all the decorations are on then the tree tipped over and everything crashed. We were both saden by the situation and wanted to get another tree to start over so we can back today and explained what had happened and told them that we wanted to buy another tree. We asked them to make sure the tree was cut properly flat this 2nd time so that it wouldn't happened again, but for some reason Jim came to us and stated that the tree couldn't of been cut any better in which I don't agree and you can see from the pictures. I didn't want to argue with Jim and gave him the benefit and said ok we just want another tree and that we will pay for it and pay for delivery too. Jim then told us to go to another farm and at that moment my wife and I realized Jim didn't want to help us find another tree or even wanted us to buy another tree from Him. The interesting was that Kelly said that she can get us another tree delivered the next day when I spoke to her initially, but all of a sudden when Jim came with Kelly on the farm to meet us things changed so fast. I haven't felt this way negatively about a business or person in a long time and we really wanted to support a small business owner during this Holiday season, but Jim doesn't seem empathetic and wanted us to take a hike. That's why I wouldn't...
Read moreWe went the the Rancho location under the impression there would be Santa and picnic tables. There were maybe 3 tables. We weren't allowed to drive down the road so we would have had to carry our tree up or ask for help. We walked through the farm which wasn't very big. All the different trees were mixed together and didn't seem to be a lot of good trees to choose from. Some were massive and others were small, some dry. We ended up leaving because even if I did find a tree we liked I didn't really get the whole experience I was looking for and preferred to go elsewhere. We ended up going where we did last year which was a better experience for picnicking and a better selection...McKenzie Tree Farm up...

It's gorgous there, with picnic tables & an old fashioned barn with a gift shop, hot cider & wine tasting, all free. Trees are $75 & up, but you get to choose & cut your own, and they'll net the tree & help you tie it in to your car roof. We got a 5ft tree that fit into our backseat. A beautiful drive up to the Santa Cruz Mtns is an added extra. Keep going on Old Santa Cruz Hwy to the Soquel-San Jose Highway and make a day of it by stopping...
