I thought seriously about whether to do this bc I considered Seneca the pinnacle of Vet Care so long. I strongly recommended them to everyone. Not now. For several years I brought my dog here and there has been quite a change in Seneca - not for the better. I recently have been on a mission to find a new veterinarian due to behavior from the staff, and requested my dog’s medical records for this reason, be emailed to me. The most recent comment in my dog’s medical record stated that due to “client’s (me) behavior on the phone previously, we will no longer see them as clients.” It also said “we are willing to do a humane euthanasia if he truly thinks his dog is suffering”. Context: my dog was and continues to struggle with a serious illness as I’ve discovered.
There are many things so wrong here.
If the practice truly had an issue with me, I wish a manager or head veterinarian whom I’ve had the chance to know through coming here, had reached out and discussed the situation. I would have been so happy to have a discussion about it & settle it, and move on & focus on figuring my fur baby’s issue. You guys were my favorite vet ever, and I give you credit for the past positive experiences but this is unacceptable. I mean businesses make mistakes, just own it, you know? Simple stuff.
So disappointed from a humane standpoint and...
Read moreA belated but sincere thank you to Dr Michelle Shumaker and the entire staff at Seneca Animal Hospital for the days in early July spent making certain that we received the USDA endorsed international health certificate needed to travel with our medical alert service dog to the country of Ireland. We will be flying back to the US tomorrow after a 6-week trip to Ireland that we were months in planning and both my husband and I want them to know how much we appreciated their efforts. Due to some recent changes in international health certificate requirements, there was a day or so when we were concerned that all the tight deadlines might not be met. However, due to Dr Shoemaker’s dedication, to include coming in twice on her days off, plus the meticulous and frequent tracking done by Sydney, the practice manager, we received all the necessary paperwork in time to make our flights. Front desk staff were lovely too, with Manny being very understanding with our concerns. On top of all this, we were just recently arrived to the Louisville area and thus were new clients at the clinic. Dr Shoemaker and her staff showed such professionalism and concern to us. She and her staff can be counted on to stand by her client’s and patient’s best interests in all things. We look forward to trusting her with all of Coco’s future medical needs upon our return. With gratitude, Katie, John...
Read moreTook my dog to the vet about a year and a half ago. The vet I saw mentioned that he probably at some point broke his tooth and it was starting to recede into his gum. She said we might need to order xrays and possibly have it pulled. We never heard anything more about it.
Fast forward to this past visit (this past May) and we saw a different vet at this same location. This vet said that it looks like he needs a teeth cleaning, but that we should give him the greenie chews for dental health and a dog toothbrush to take care of it at home and if by next year they still look bad, wed do a thorough teeth cleaning at the vet.
So my husband and I thought, wow guess he doesn’t need a tooth pulled, that’s a relief!
Well, last week my husband noticed my dogs tooth looks way worse than we remembered over a year ago, so we scheduled him a visit at a different vet and they said that it’s got an abscess and has been infected for a while and needs to be pulled immediately with him put on antibiotics.
God only knows what would have happened if we didn’t listen to our gut and take him to get a second opinion. I will NEVER take my dog back here and risk his life because of these negligent vets.
Oh, and also, the surgery and teeth cleaning at the other vet I’m going to is about $600 cheaper...
