Riverside Market Place — Local services in Ludlow

Absolutely terrible!!!! First time shopping here, its after 9pm. Apparently they lock their FRONT DOORS at 9pm and expect customers to check in the dark for a SIDE door. A side door! To a grocery store! This is not a great neighborhood!!! After knocking on the door, which got no answer, i saw another customer enter the side. So, i walked around. There was an employee outside smoking. I very politely asked Chrystal that they put a sign up. (Unaware that she was actually a manager!). She told me that there is one. So i let her know that its facing the wrong way, its facing the inside of the store. Since i wasnt aware that she was a manager, i went to what looked like the customer service desk (John and Haley were working, supposedly, no name tags) and asked if they could ask management to please put up a sign for customers who havent been here before. They said okay. I said thank you and went to get a shopping cart. Which is when i realized the customer service desk is actually right next to the door that they wouldnt walk over to while i was knocking. While im walking around shopping, i hear Chrystal (reminder - she is a MANAGER) saying “well she can go to another store if she doesnt like it i dont give a **”. … i went to the counter, asked where to pay and she aggressively says RIGHT HERE. I noticed her name badge said “night manager” and so i said “wow. Youre a manager behaving this way?” And she went off about how disrespectful i was! I was not the least bit disrespectful! I was VERY polite. I literally just asked about a sign. These employees are a perfect example to why Ludlow has a bad name! They are deterring customers from even entering the business. Why is this store even here, if not to serve customers???? Like, i am SO CONFUSED at the interaction that i just had. I JUST moved here from Boone county and i can say that I will travel to Boone county to buy my groceries before EVER spending a single red cent at this store EVER AGAIN. I will (attempt to) contact every person associated with “corporate” for this store so that theyre aware of the reason why this location comes to the same ending that Dayton did. Closed. Because this is in no way an experience that any reasonable person would pay for. Absolutely ridiculous. This has got to be the most unprofessional experience i have EVER had with MANAGEMENT of all people. And then to be accused of being disrespectful? What! This woman told me the reason she was yapping about a customer (while walking around the store might i add) is because if a customer wants to disrespect her cashiers, they can go to another store. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ this lady has NO business being in a position of management. None what so ever. Most certainly if thats how she de-escalates a situation. Hopefully a Kroger replaces this store sooner than later. Until then - ill travel 50 miles before...

Not even worth 1 star. Last year the store seemed like it was staffed with people that care about their jobs, but now its a joke. Expect to wait in line for much longer than necessary due to the cashiers spending time on their phones or chatting with each other. Today, 5/11/17 at 3:15PM there were two cashiers. The older one was moving people along and friendly but I had the misfortune of being in the line of the younger cashier. Every time I go there she's on the phone or chatting with one of the other cashiers and I have to first speak up just to get her attention. I've never even been offered a receipt and this particular cashier actually gives me an attitude every time I ask for one.

Today I just wanted some lunch, but since she was too busy chatting with the cashier in the next line over, she wasn't paying attention. I don't know what happened, (because I couldn't see), but she ended up throwing my piece of pizza several feet away and walked off mumbling angrily. I work in customer service and have never experienced people like this or managers who don't care enough to have their employees actually do the job they were hired to do. I try to get a manager and they walked away. I go online and try to find a phone number and the one listed goes to a fax machine.

EDIT: 6/10 Had the misfortune of needing to go this store again. This time I pay, the cashier hands me my change then looks me in the eye and says, 'yea?'. I waited a couple seconds for her to realize that the bag of products I just paid for were still behind the counter, (out of my reach), and she still hadn't bothered to give them to me. When I point this out she doesn't apologize and instead gives me a dirty look and says she's having a bad day. How do people like this...

This place does not honor their prices! Had $1.69 tag hung on their nos energy drinks it rang up $2.19 and I told the cashier it said $1.69 she went and looked and said they are 2 for $4 or $2.19 each I asked if she seen the tag for $1.69 she point blank said yes and still wouldn't honor their pricing! I said I didn't want anything then if they are not an honorable company she gladly voided the transaction without hesitation. Ended up at elm food mart who actually sells them for less than $2.19 and had my cigarettes cheaper too! If you like wasting your money and paying higher prices with a dishonest company then riverside marketplace in Ludlow ky is your place to go!!!! Sister wanted to there for doughnuts I took her there.... looked at the drinks a couple hours almost later and they still didn't remove the cheaper sign and charged my sister 2 for $4 since she bought them!!! This place is a scam. Charges $2.19 also for surge which is 99 cents anywhere else!!!...
