An absolute gem!!! Found this place on a whim while in town for my nephew's band competition and I felt like I was transported back to Spain. Each dish was prepared with love and tasted phenomenal this is a place where you need to value quality over quantity because I was in a bar prior to dining here and they commented on when you leave you will want to go to X for after dinner snacks .....no I don't! I know what food food is! I left super happy and felt like it was one of the best meals I'd had in months. This is a true tapas restaurant. Order a dish or two and then see how you feel.....want more? Order more. This is how I love to eat multiple small plates so I can experience it all. The wine list is great, they even had a wonderful boutique vineyard that I had visited while I was in Spain two years ago in the Priorot region. Service was great without being overbearing. The owner made wonderful suggestions and pairings. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone in the area and if they wanted to expand their domain please come to the Charlotte, NC region as I would be a regular...
Read moreWhat a lovely spot—kind and attentive staff, delicious food, and a nice atmosphere. We dined early on a Friday night (right at opening, at 5) and there were lots of open tables, but they filled up by the time we left after 6, so I echo the advice to get a reservation when you can (it’s a small dining room). There was live music to enjoy (classical guitar) and the food was flavorful and nicely balanced. Definitely try some of the preserved fish—we really loved the squid tinned in ink!
One thing I really appreciated is how clear the menu is! Every ingredient is listed under each dish—this is a real rarity (many places will label MOST but not all ingredients in a fish). We manage dairy and egg allergies and one of our party was vegetarian and it made ordering so easy.
We brought our 3yo son with us and they were very welcoming. They’re not truly set up for kids (no kids menu, eg) but he loved lots of stuff in the tapas category...
Read moreConserva is an underrated gem and the only place I've been able to find traditional Spanish tapas in the area. The ambiance and service are friendly and warm, and every dish I've had has been truly delicious. A few favorites from my last visit: Jamón Serrano y Manchego, Pimientos del Piquillo, Guiso de Butifarra y Alubias Blancas, and the Gambas al Ajillo. Don't skip on ordering at least one of the conservas, which comes with pickled veggies, baguette, and Spanish olive oil chips. Finishing off with the burnt Basque cheesecake is also a good idea.
Well worth it for Ohioans to make the hurdle...
