Graves Mountain Stables & Riding — Local services in Luray

My daughter (7 year old experienced rider) and I had an awesome time on the 90 minute ride! It was just the right length where too much longer might have got uncomfortable but we had a nice amount of time on the horses and really got to enjoy the experience.

Everyone involved was very nice. The lady in the equipment area was exceptionally pleasant and got us fitting with helmets. The 2 "cowboys" that lead the excursion were also very nice and kept a close eye on the group and assisted folks as needed. The path was very nice and it ran through fields and an orchard in the valley.

I definitely recommend the experience and I hope to come back and do it again...

As a plus size rider finding a place I can ride is harder as I'm always just over the weight limit. I also haven't ridden in 20 years till last weekend, my hubby surprised me for my birthday with a trail ride. The stables felt like home, the people and the trail guide were so friendly and helpful (my hubby has ridden 3 times in his life) and they matched him with a perfect mount, Sam, and my mount Harley was a dream to ride. I like opinionated horses and Harley was the perfect sassy gentleman for me. The ride and trails were perfect and the views of the orchards and hills beyond are just beautiful. Best. Trail ride. Ever! I love horses and love to ride and this was an amazing time. Where most trail rides just take you in a circle around a field, this one actually took us up onto the mountain a bit. Very affordable compared to other options, only $80 for a 2-hr ride. Our trail guide was very friendly and chatted with us the entire time (i think her name was Michelle, a former barrel racer). Our horses Jazz and Deuce were sweet and (mostly) well-behaved except for sneaking a few snacks along the way. :) Highly Recommend...
