Don't know what Mr Steinhoff is talking about...
Course itself is quite scenic -- rolling hills, heavily wooded but not tight fairways. Several blind tee shots up over hills where you cannot possibly see the pin, which is pretty frustrating but most likely only for your first round or so... Also they do not have yardage marker posts along the fairways which is extremely annoying especially when walking the course. That plus the fact that many flags are hidden makes it a bit of a bear.
Also, they had just aerated but decided not to mention it to us, so the greens were like cement/dirt and the fairways were like rumble strips. At the very least they could knock off a few dollars from the greens fees to make up for it...
That being said, very nice looking course with easy/medium difficulty. Good bang for the buck; better value than Mt Hood which is getting far overpriced for the...
Read moreWhat an incredibly beautiful course it is, maybe particularly because of the season of foliage. Unlike its scenery, however, the course isn’t really enjoyable because the entire course is very hilly and you have so many blind spots between teeing grounds and greens, and also many holes are actually out of sight at all from tees. Walk is not recommended at all, and you have to drive your cart forth and back to check if players ahead of you are away or not. 17th par 3 hole of 200yard is substantially uphill so that you can’t see players on green. The bar in the clubhouse was more friendly atmosphere than any others I’ve been near Boston. Sitting at the outside terrace, looking over the 18th hole is great for a pint of beer. Btw, if you use Garmin golf equipments, please note that the map on the garmin is out dated and GPS...
Read moreThe parcel of land the course is on rivals any inland course anywhere in the world. It's sort of like a Public Pine Valley. Routing is exquisite, as is the mounding in the fairways, the run offs.... and the green complexes are as good as any top tier country club, and it's obvious they were made largely by hand, and a loooong time ago, there are contours you won't find in any modern construction. The back nine is simply remarkable, there are only two holes where play occurs to ones left or right, the rest is a golf trail along the back edge of the property and the reservoir. Im telling you, this place has no relation to the rest of Lynn. The place is a total gem, a true golfers course, second shot city. If you don't keep an index, its probably not for you. A 20 handicap would be lucky to shoot 110 their...
