If you have a child, think twice before they move onto this campus. I had continuous noise and banging incidents during my five months on campus (March through August), which carried over into two apartments I moved into. When I first heard the banging on a regular basis, I did not report them, but eventually I became frustrated because the frequency and intensity of the banging seemed deliberate. Taylor Royal, the residence life coordinator, denied my reports on multiple occasions, and it appeared that she didn't give a significance about the deliberate banging I heard every morning or when I arrived home from work. Fast forward to around June-July, weird occurrences started to happen to me on and off campus. I began to be covertly stalked to which, I can remember a red Toyota Corolla being parked frontward in (and if you have ever stayed on campus you know you can’t park that way on the campus housing) around the entrance of the campus housing. As I am leaving for work (approximately 10:30pm), I notice a black female in the driver seat looking in my direction, presumably waiting for me to depart. In fact, as soon as I left the campus housing, she started her car and followed me out. From my side mirrors, I saw her ascending Ivey Drive, to the left of the housing exit. I never brought these claims (supported by evidence) to the university police because, regardless of what we were talking about, every encounter I had with an officer who patrolled the housing property was disturbing and extremely dishonest (in my experience). Around the end of July, the RLC (Taylor Royal) threatened to lock the doors to my campus apartment unless I attended a meeting. I took this as a threat to force me to attend. Trevion Burke, Christina J. Jackson, and James Tripp Mitchell were the three people present at the meeting when I arrived. The university chief of police, James Tripp Mitchell, left the meeting three times and then returned while holding his phone in my direction and sending constant texts on his phone, which made it incredibly uncomfortable to sit through that. He also stated that it would be best for you to return home (to Atlanta) “where you are safe and not in fear”. At that point I had not shared to him that I was being followed or anything or even in “fear” so how would be so privy to say such a thing? "Have you been to Delowe Dr a couple days ago?" he asked very weirdly, to which I replied, "I have, around the Cascade part right?" In an extremely unknowing manner, he said, "Yeah, I am from there too." It should be noted that in the days preceding the meeting, I was being followed by white cars and unmarked vehicles almost every day. Since I had only visited Delowe Drive a few days earlier to see my great aunt, whom I hadn't seen in YEARS, his (the university chief officer's) statement gave me a heavy, intimidated feeling as though he had known where I was before the meeting. I genuinely believed that I was not protected on campus and that I was being gaslighted into circumstances that sparked my observations and experiences from the previous academic year. My experience is unique, and I'm not attempting to discourage you from living on campus; I'm just sharing what happened to me during the most recent academic year. In addition, thank you Trevion for all the help you tried to give me. God bless you and keep...
Read moreThe biggest mistake I made throughout my education at middle Georgia state university was filling out a housing application here. The whole process was just a waste of time and money, which they are happy to take from you regardless of the outcome. Please learn from my mistake and do not sign the housing contract online before seeing the actual room you are being assigned to. They will place you in a dirty room with carpet that looks like it hasn't been shampooed once since it was installed in the unit and old furniture. If you do not accept to live in that filth they will charge you a termination fee of $500 because you are terminating your contract for "no reason". Meanwhile, they will just take your money and raffle it off like it means...
Read moreIn general the layout is very nice, but expect to have maintenance issues and a filthy room when you move in as shown. Could be a very nice complex if it was maintained properly and the apartments were cleaned on occasion. Other things that don't show up in photos: food and crumbs all over the floor when we moved in, walls heavily stained, counters dirty, damage to doors making them easy to break in to, very worn and dirty carpets and laminate. Appliances all seemed to be pretty reliable. Make sure to ask for a...
