What a downgrade from our old Thomas market. I woke up craving a donut this morning only to remember good donuts were yet another casualty of the new owners. Heaven forbid the customers that have shopped at Thomas’s year after year have any sort of consistency in this transition, after all shouldn’t the customer being able to find things and know what to expect be more important than new owners not liking the way someone else ran things? The bakery sucks now. The deli used to have a lot going for it. For some reason they replaced edible pizza sticks with cheap mozzarella rubber stuffed inside weird and disgusting bread. There is wagyu lunch meat now, but you might need to skim on your caviar budget for the month, and still might need a loan to buy even a half pound. You cant find anything anymore, and what you’re looking for has probably been replaced with a less healthy option for a much higher price. Jerry used to do a really good job of having multiple options from basic store brand to high quality. The produce is terrible, and it’s always surprising to see a bag or box of something at Costco for nearly the same price as one item at broulims. Avocados for example. Jerry was also unique in not only supporting the people of our county by buying animals at our fair, but he then gave his customers the opportunity to enjoy those animals on the table too. Every year I looked forward to fresh local lamb chops and beef of the highest quality being on the shelves. Every year he filled the store with local corn, tomatoes and peaches too. Sadly, these was more casualties. Every single trip to this store makes me angry. If there was another option in town we would never set foot in broulims again. I’m finding more and more that it would be cheaper to run out of town, even for just a few things. Inflation is what it is, but riding into town on your high horse and taking advantage of your customers because you’re the only place in town is wrong. The average trip for 3-5 bags of groceries costs our family $25-50 more than before Thomas Market transitioned to Broulims. That’s a pretty...
Read moreThomas Market is a pretty decent store. It has friendly employees and a few local items. It usually has all it's stuff decently stocked (except bread, people just but a lot of that apparently).
It is, however, a bit limited. I would definitely not go here if you are looking for a fancy ingredient to make into a confection, or to get things like fresh fish for sushi. Then again, we are in a small town that is technically in the desert. Things like fresh fish are generally expensive and uncommon anyways.
It's overall a pretty good store. It has all the basics and a few more things. It's also getting new items pretty much every year. For all I know it might have a bunch of exotic things...
Read moreAs someone who has lived in bigger cities I wish there was a bigger selection of items and lower prices sometimes, but for a small town it is a great place to shop. The staff are awesome and super friendly. It is best to buy things when they are on sale and look at their advertisements to get the best deals. They are very fast compared to places like Walmart and they get you through the grocery line very quickly for such a smaller grocery store. The bakery stuff is good, the produce is usually good unless it's rare things like mangoes or guavas or something small town folks don't...
