Dude Ranch Cafe — Restaurant in Malad City

Was hoping for one of those small town hidden gems. Not what I got. Me and my family went there to eat, and first impression wasn't too bad. Small town diner. We went into the back section and after sitting for several minutes we all realized how muggy and stale the air was in there. The waitress gave us our water which was stale tap water. The table cloth was sticky. The menu was completely overwhelming. Too many items and and all lacking an adequate description, or really any description at all. Our food arrived and I ordered just a cheese burger which came with a side of curly fries. Hard to go wrong there, so I went with something that was universally decent to eat. The burger patty had absolutely no flavor. Nor did the cheese. Condiments weren't provided, so we ordered fry sauce for the fries and figured we could put some on the burger also. Even the fry sauce was sub par, and made with a 70% mayonnaise and 30% ketchup mixture. The fries were un seasoned as well, and soggy, and left a horrible after taste in your mouth. This place seemed to be over hyped until I went yesterday. It took over 10mins just to order my beverage and about 40mins before food arrived...it wasn't even a busy night. My waitress did not bring silverware to the table and did not leave water at the table for refills (all other tables got them). My waitress also only stopped by once to ask how the food was....15mins after we got it and were pretty much done. The food was not what I expected and my burger was inferior to something I could have gotten at Burger King just up the road. The curly fries weren't bad but could have been better for being home-made. The biggest problem is probably the hours and days this place is open. It seems to be very random.

Nestled in a small town square sits Dude Ranch Cafe. It is a snug environment but very cozy and endeavoring. The staff is very helpful and considerate. There is a small salad bar in the middle of the restaurant that has a moderate amount of options to build your salad. I ordered the chicken fried chicken plate, and it was wonderful. At the end of the meal, I received a mini ice cream cone; the Irish cream. It was a nice way to end a delicious meal.
