Got my hair done two days ago, hair is unraveling, frizzy since I got it done there, hair is coming out, not full at the bottom. I got overcharged for cornrows going into twists(which means you donât have to do about 6 rows of twists so the price shouldâve been lower than the original price for twists that said $200). They charged me $300, also the man I came with got a wash and retwist for $95 and his hair looked like it did before we came but now with more flakes! They charged me $25 for being late which I understand but the extra $75 was because they donât usually do twists only the crochet twists and because she took an extra hour to do my hair. I also had to go to a nearby store to get more color options because they were low on colors , so no hair included, no expert quality, cornrows into twists and I was charged over $200, the hair wash was the best part & was only $20. The women with the micro dreads there is the best and revived my hair to healthy like itâs never been ! This is my second time coming as I was coming in she was leaving sadly! I felt taken advantage of! The man I was with also stated when the women with the micro dreads had to leave and someone else had to come and finish his retwist he said he felt the difference and it felt like she âdidnât want to do itâ I believe him because of the after results. There is more to say but I love this place for my natural hair just wonât be coming back for anything else unfortunately. I also couldnât get the color scheme I wanted because she didnât know how to work with one of the pre-stretched braiding hair I had just bought from the hair store around the corner. Because of the lack of experience in this style & me going out my way to go buy hair , and the top half being cornrowed, there is no reason why i shouldâve paid more than $200, also I have been doing hair for 7 years I brought the man their to get a good hair retwist experience because my last experience made my hair so healthy but know I know I shouldâve did them myself instead of paying $95 just for a wash them for them to make it dirty againđ.

Hello! Thank you so much for reaching out to me. no i did not call them back I just left a review here, I thought the owner would text me back but Iâm going to assume you do not work at salon hairapy in Malden? But I am glad to know of that policy, so now I would just call them and ask them for a refund because Iâm unsatisfied correct, and they will agree because it is in their policy? And Yes as a business women I feel the same and ask the same. That all details/facts are included and correct. I booked for extension braids, when I got there they asked me if I had hair which me (usually salon hairapy DOES have braiding hair but that day they said they were short), so then she sent me to the hair store where I bought my own hair and brought back to the store, and they used the braiding hair I bought to do my hair. I asked for instead of a full head of extension braids if we can do half cornrow & half twists(which is way quicker than original style). I also asked before I came to the appointment because I know you guys arenât busy Wednesday mornings, if I can bring someone as well for a retwist & wash and she said yes so I did! She didnât have to squeeze him in , n I didnât make her change the style last minute without reasoning, I asked her if it was possible to change the style of my hair, if she wouldâve said no or even told me it would be much more I wouldâve easily said never mind but she said yes.Iâm a very reasonable person , I just think the salon was having a hard day maybe. Also I arrived my appointment with no hair actually because Salon Hairapy provides hair, when I got there they were out of stock of most colors so I went to the store and bought my own hair for them to do my hair. And no salon Hairapy does carry hair actually! They told me they were running low, they showed me a couple blondes and brown they had before sending me to the store. And no the salon did not provide me hair maâam.But yes I will...
Read moreGreat wash & D level hair. My advice book early in the day before afternoon unlike what I did. Maybe then you will have better luck. I got bad directions and ended up late. I arrive and he tells me don't worry we will take care of you, and I was so grateful. I have 4 a/b/c hair on my head.
My scalp was scrubbed, which was heaven, then I was supposed to get a hot oil, did not, but I did get a deep condition- sat under a steamer with conditioner in, but NOT for 30 minutes- like 15. I was supposed to get a protein treatment- that didn't happen either. It was clear they were overbooked. The person who had washed my hair had to switch over from me to another client and back to me. No one had time to sweep up between clients, so the floor was a bit hairy. 90's gospel played the entire time I was there.
I think there are only 4 chairs total in the salon and 2 wash stations, so the place was busy. A bunch of folks with locs coming in, and one who came in to have her locs extension, and one getting her heir blown out, then flat ironed, and curled. I was put under the dryer with 4 plaits in my hair to semi dry my hair before blow-dry for my trim. Kathy, the owner trimmed my hair after Alffie, this young girl blew it out. Then Alfie began twisting my hair, and even took a quick picture to I could see the row she had done in the back of my hair which looked perfect. She unexpectedly had to leave after some guy came in and made a rude comment towards me speaking with someone else and I responded to him in kind. Told me Kathy would take over after she was done curling the other client's hair.
10 minutes then Kathy came over I found out that Alfie had put rubber bands on the ends of my hair, so those had to be taken out. Alfie was using gel at the roots, which I liked but Kathy switched to not putting gel on the roots and just using moose for each section. She invited a staff member over, Shay, to remove the rubber bands while she continued to work. Then I made sure to specify again that I wanted them all to be the same size, just like I had done with Alffie. Kathy asked me if there was a specific type of parting my hair I liked and I told her as long as the twists were the same size I did not care. She said, " I know that's right." Did I leave with them all the same size? NOPE. They were engaged in conversation about whose hair still needed to be done, and how Kathy was already supposed to have been home by 7:30 PM but now because of the extra clients would not be done until likely 10. Kathy made her twists larger than Alffie had done, which was fine, but she did not redo the twists Alffie had done in the back, which I did not know until I left. They are not shaped the same, Alffie's are more rope-like and tight, and Kathy's are fluffy and looser, and the twists get larger the closer you go to the front of my head. I understand you may have gotten overbooked that day, and I understand being tired, but don't take it out on my head. Extra moose was put on my head and I again sat under the dryer then Shay oiled my scalp and I paid and left. $100 for small twists(that are not small twists), $25 for the trim, and $20 for the deep condition. I paid $21.75 for a tip and left.
I wanted to know my hair was going to look nice for 2 weeks, then do a twist-out for another 2 before going to get my hair done again next month. Now I know the twist out is going to look crazy with the different sized twists in my hair, and the different type of twist in the back. The next day my hair doesn't still smell fresh, which makes me think the oil was starting to go bad. I haven't worked out or done anything to cause the change in smell. They did not oil my hair to seal it, not even a spray sheen. UPDATE: I was not wrong my scalp was itching like crazy.
Also, Their kitchen staff food area is around the corner from the last chair where I was positioned all the way in the back. Smell of codfish clung to my clothes, so maybe they need a fan or something in there to blow it out. They have cameras in there but none were on while I was there....
Read moreI am not one to write bad reviews but I felt it was incredibly important to share my experience so that no one has to go through what I did.
At my recent appointment for a Sew-in Install, I arrived at the salon at 11am for my appointment. I was washed at 12:30pm and then set at the dryer for 30 minutes-1 hour. The rest of the time I was waiting. It was only until 5:30pm that the hair stylist had finally started the service. I I had seen everyone who came before me and after me leave before my install even started. Even the walk ins too, and the hair stylist would even do their hair before doing mine, knowing well I had come in 6 hours before and haven't been serviced by her yet. When she did come, I had been completely drained, defeated, and so emotional I couldn't even speak because I knew I would cry my eyes out.
I wish I could say this was a one time thing, but this has sadly been happening to me every single time I have come here. When I tell them this, they tell me "sew ins take a long time", but in actuality I see them doing all types of hair services and extensions on people and they do not wait there the way I do. Then when I text the hairstylist Kathy about it, she tells me "How could you say that to me, I have done my very best on you". And this last time I texted her about it, she says "Your acting like I hurt you when in actuality I didn't...". No sympathy, no compassion, no professionalism, just being defensive and invalidating my feelings and experiences.
My time didn't matter to them, my feelings didn't matter to them, and I thought I was the only one until I had found another similar review and it was by another non black person. You can connect the dots.
So for anyone out there who's non black going to this salon, remember to always speak up when you notice something not right and never let anyone question your feelings or experiences....
