I've stayed at Mammoth Ski & Raquet club for many years and have been relatively satisfied with the units and its cleanliness (each unit will vary in its condition and quality because these are individually owned condos managed by MSR club), however this Labor Day weekend stay highlighted a lack of oversight on part of the management company. This review pertains specifically to the management company.
Upon our arrival to the unit (#86), which we loved for its modern furnishings/decor and well appointed kitchen we discovered loose nails and screws on the balcony. There were a total of 15 loose nails and screws and a slat on the guardrail that had a loose hanging nail. As a family with a 2yo this is highly unacceptable and dangerous. An email was sent to management Fri late afternoon with no response throughout our stay until Mon).
Secondly, there were construction workers on Friday, Saturday & Sunday with no advance notice from management regarding any inconvenience related to noise or dust. Workers were here in front of our building working in an area between the garage structure and Building K until 6:30pm on a Saturday cutting stone countertops. Plumes of dust from this work was blowing across into the adjacent building J. There were units with patio doors and windows open directly exposed to the dust, including ours. This is highly dangerous for the lungs; a health hazard for the tenants who may have been gone for the afternoon with no awareness of its occurrence. Guests should have been notified in advance to keep windows and doors closed for this work.
The fact that the management company has no emergency contact for issues after office hours is unprofessional and unacceptable. For example, if you have a noise complaint after 10pm, they ask you to contact local police. The front office staff was also unaware of the construction work being done.
For these major safety reasons, I will not be staying with the Mammoth Ski & Raquet club in the future and I don't recommend them at all unless you're okay with this quality of management in your lodging. There are plenty other options at similar rates offering consistently higher quality of units and...
Read moreBe aware you may not have unlimited access to your rented unit. In the middle of our 3 day stay, the property performed maintenance on all the paved surfaces. My wife went to leave the room and found she was trapped inside. All the way up to the threshold, and across all the walkway/driveway was a thick sticky tar. NO ACCESS to come and go for 24 hours. We were told we shouldn’t be there and that we should have stayed somewhere else for that 24 hour period. I spoke with the property manager by phone the next day. She said no, we wouldn’t have to leave, just stay inside all day, or leave early and not have access to the room – ALL DAY. Most bizarre thing I’ve ever experienced. I had left early that same morning and returned planning on showering about noon and then attending a different activity. Several family members were there, staying in different facilities in Mammoth. NO ACCESS TO OUR ROOM. I’m upset at this point, donned two pair of thick wool socks, leaped the 4’ retaining wall, and walked over the wet tar to the room. Later walked out same way. Left the tar-soaked socks in the drive. Area was blocked off for over 24 hours. Incredible. You have to rent a second room at another facility in order to access your luggage, showering facilities, etc. if you have more than one-day stay. BUT, you still get to pay the normal rate for your entire stay. No accommodation is made for losing the time. Partial refund is tentatively offered, but never given. First night - Our confirmation email directs us to Unit J90. Key code won’t work. Property management comes and directs us to unit 33. The confirmation email has the phone number of the owner from J90 who knows nothing about his unit being reserved by us. He and I have had a couple of interesting conversations and he is pursuing at his end. I would not call unit 33 clean. Dirty baseboards and room corners. Someone cleaned the fridge but forgot the freezer. Changed sheets on beds but forgot to change sleeper/sofa in living room. Pretty awful experience all...

DISHONEST people and HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT!!! Stayed in room 34 Christmas break with family. let me explain. This room had 2 bunk beds. When we arrived there was no ladder for these bunk beds and on the very first try to get into these high bunk beds the support railing broke. After falling on the ground and upon further review of the bed the support railing had NO Screws to hold it in place....NOTHING. We then examined the other bunk bed and noticed that it had already broke in the exact same place that ours did....We could also tell that this break was only repaired with GLUE...No screws or anything, and it too just sitting on top of the railing(there where screw holes but no screws). We contacted management and told them about the railing,, the front desk lady then stated "O, not again". After that call we did a walk through (I believe his name was MATT) and showed him the broken railing, no ladder, no screws(to hold in place), and glued piece from other bunk bed. He then sayed he will have someone review the situation. On our way out he then proceeded to sniff his nose and ask if we "smoked inside". I read the agreement and it stated automatic(around $1,000) fine,,, was that a threat?! We do not smoke but nice try. A few days later they request $400 dollars to fix the railing.... excuse me! $400 for what looks like .50 cents of glue for something you never fixed before we arrived?! Days later management sends over a picture of the incident, with a ladder in the picture. Where did that come from and why didnt Matt show us any ladders when they did the walk through?! Not to mention they took the pic with the wrong broken bunk bed railing. Either they are completely neglecting to fix the problem or there running a SCAM!! LOOK at pictures and video and decide for yourself. A previous person had the EXACT same incident with the bunk beds!! DO...
