The Lookout Catering — Local services in Maple Grove

Very disappointed, our wedding reception was in our backyard (off site). We had 2 extra guests, which I had informed them about prior to dinner and mentioned we were missing silverware. After going through the line, I heard guests saying they didn't have silverware. Our maid of honor had to run in our house to get 2 extra sets of silverware and track down a napkin because they said all silverware were on the tables (as if they didn't have anymore). 6 of us at the head table were missing butter knives and then they magically had some, yet would not provide extra silverware when we needed them for our extra guests. I learned through the dinner that they thought we went over our guest count by 10 so they were going to charge us for the extra guests. Since I knew we did not go over by 10 and the cost would be significant, I talked to the staff to sort out the issue. The staff was adamant that we had 10 extra guests because of the number of plates they put out. My response was that we only rented 81 chairs and did not have to add 10 more chairs for our guests to eat, we only added a few. They kept re-iterating they had to put down 10 extra plates and would not listen to what I was saying, I had to have someone go to each table and take a photo of the number of guests to prove there was not 10 extra guests. I finally told them that they probably miscounted the plates (which I learned later that was the case). It felt like they thought we snuck in 10 extra guests and were trying to get away with not paying. It was embarrassing and stressful that some of our guests had hot food and had to wait for silverware and that they saw me and someone from our wedding party intensely discussing the issue with staff during dinner. The tip should NOT be included in the cost, perhaps this would not have happened and the staff would have handled it better if they had to work for their tip (just like I had to when I waited on tables...

Lookout Catering was very pleasant to work with. They communicated well, and were very friendly. The food was good, the staff was very helpful, and we appreciated their decorating of the reception. There was a small part of our order that they did not fulfill, however it wasn't greatly noticed until after the wedding day.

We would like to add that they set up our cupcakes which were brought by a separate caterer. We greatly appreciate that, and the table turned out beautifully!

I was hesitant at first regarding using Lookout Catering for our event. Unfortunately, I needed someone quickly, on a Monday afternoon. Having seen their catering vans at Mississippi Crossings for other events , I went ahead and booked them. There was not one complaint about choosing them for this event!!!
