I went for the first time to Ice Castles with my friends yesterday and it was really cute! We didn't know exactly what to expect since it was a first for all 3 of us, but it was a really good experience.
They must have several parking lots because in the dark when we were driving we ended up in the overflow parking lot, but they had school busses shuttle to the Ice Castle and also back to the parking lot. So even if you end up in the overflow parking lot you don't have to walk all the way to the castles.
It was $18 for general adult admission. I'm not sure what the kids price was but I think I remember seeing it was $12. I got the $18 one but since it was the weekend it's more expensive so I paid $22 for one adult ticket.
If you come during the night like we did make sure to wear boots. Also wear thick socks with those boots. It might have just been the weather last night but my feet were my coldest bodypart. Bundle up and wear a hat, gloves, and snow pants if you have some. There are ice slides you can use but you would need to wear snowpants. This is a great family activity, there were a lot of little kids using the slides.
They sell hot chocolate and have a few places throughout that have a small fire going so you can warm up. My friend wore vans and since everywhere you step inside by the ice castles is full of snow (sometimes as deep as your ankles) her shoes were soaked and she wore thin ankle socks. So that fire probably saved her toes from getting frostbite. I wore boots but after a while, even my boots got cold and I wore thin socks.
I'll probably come back with my family but next time I'll make sure to wear thick socks and maybe get those hot hands and toes warmer things they sell at Walmart to keep my toes and hands warm.
A bit later in the night they had fire performers come and they did a show with fire, it was pretty lit!😂😂😂👍

Read moreThis is my second time seeing the ice castles but first time in this location and this was by far the best experience I’ve had. The best part? It was extremely kid friendly. We had 4 kiddos with us and they had a hard time leaving because there was so much for them to do. They went through tunnels, 2 slides, one of which was big enough that adults were going down it too. They even had tubing at the end towards the exit. I loved all the fire pits so we could warm up but you will enjoy it more if you are dressed for the weather which we were. We were there for about 2 hours and I think we picked the best time (4:30pm) because we got the best of it during the day and at night once the sun set and all the lights lit up the ice. Don’t even get me started on staff. SO friendly! We had some good laughs with the guy who was standing at by the big slide. We also called the ENT guy to get a bandaid and he gave one of the kids hand warmers. The worst part? Again, if you are not dressed for the experience, you will not enjoy it very much. The cost is a tad expensive too. During the week it’s cheaper but we went on the weekend so it was more expensive those days. The restrooms are a little far so keep that in mind and the cost of the food/drinks was high too. I hadn’t had anything that day and gave in to a brownie and it was a Mexican Hot Chocolate one that cost about $10 and it was good but not amazing. We also got a cute penguin magnet at the gift shop which you walk through to exit and that was not cheap either. But overall, the experience was fun and I’d go again next year. In fact, after your visit, fill out the survey they email to you and you’ll get a discount code for the...
Read moreIt was a really cool and unique wintertime activity to do with my pre-teen daughter and her dad. Purchased tickets in advance and was able to switch them without a problem (within 24 hours) because the venue had closed due to weather conditions. Getting in was no problem, there was a short 2-3 minute wait to scan our tickets but it also didnt seem that busy either....we went at 630 on a Sunday. I definately recommend going at night because of all the ice being lit up with color changing lights and whatnot. Im sure its still amazing but I feel it would be a bit underwhelming going during the day. There is a shuttle that will take you to and from the main gate, and the shuttle drivers are super friendly and nice and definately add to the experience. There were slides made from ice which were super fun to go down, even as an adult, and when we got a little chilly there were fire pits placed around to warm our hands. I would definately recommend going if you havent been there before. The only CON to the experience was there are some spots that are tricky to walk in because there is uneven ground or deep snow. I feel like that is something that should maybe be cautioned for when entering the place. Wear boots, bring gloves, maybe a hat and have fun with...
