I recently purchased a new Indian Motorcycle from the folks at Vern Eide in Sioux Falls. While the start of my process to search for the dealer I would buy my new toy from was not exactly as expected, I have to say it turned out to be a great experience. I will preface this review with I am beyond OCD with my vehicles and will openly state I am high-maintenance.
Going into this I knew what I wanted, the best possible 'deal' out the door I could find a new Challenger or Pursuit. I contacted six different dealers in SD, ND and MN and was willing to be a bit flexible on colors, trim and 2022 vs. 2023 model year.
Due to my work schedule I much prefer using email or dealer chat functions on their websites, and in some cases Marketplace chat. This communication method was the only 'hiccup' at the initial onset of my experience with Vern Eide, which was later shown to be a Facebook Messenger 'glitch'. I reached to the the GM at Vern Eide, Ron, not to be a pain but to provide feedback on my experience thus far...Ron responded promptly, openly and in a direct manner addressed my initial experience concerns and we engaged in a conversation on what I was looking for. Ron was a pleasure to talk with and helped to answer my many questions; it was also this initial call with Ron that pretty much clinched I would be focusing my search with Vern Eide.
After my initial conversations and follow up with Ron I was introduced to Dylan, Internet Sales Manager. Dylan was also timely and professional in our communications, was helpful in addressing my questions...so much so I decided to take the 7.5 round trip on a Saturday morning during a blizzard to go check out in person the two bikes I was focusing on, which they had in stock. I wanted to see the dealership first hand as well as met the sales staff I had been communicating with.
Upon arriving at Vern Eide I was promptly greeted, Dylan found me in a matter of minutes, we exchanged personal intros and at this time I was introduced to Brekken Fey; not sure Ron or Dylan warned Brekken about how high-maintenance I was to this point in the process but Mr. Fey seemed ready for the challenge of trying to close the deal on a bike with me.
Few things to note about Brekken...he is a motorcycle guy, personable, straight-forward and during a busy Saturday morning made me feel as though I mattered to Vern Eide as a customer. Over the course of the nearly 2 hours I was at the dealership, Brekken and I looked over the bikes I was focusing on, he was patient and tolerant of my many questions and sought input from the Parts and Service's Managers on a few of my questions; something I greatly appreciated vs. attempting to guess at the answers he got the correct answers (not all dealers staff would do this I have found). Decided which bike I wanted and we got all the paperwork taken care of for my new 2023 Challenger Dark Horse; which sadly had to sit at the dealership a few more days so I could return with an enclosed trailer to bring it back home to MN.
In the 48 hours from leaving the dealership to returning to pick it up there were a few follow up items I had on my list seeking Brekken's help on. Before I left Monday morning with trailer in tow Brekken sent me a text message and he had taken care of all my follow up items I wanted addressed prior to taking the bike home. He also confirmed he would be at the dealership waiting. Upon arrival the bike was prepped, the free coffee was still hot, I was again greeted promptly upon arrival and Brekken helped me gather a couple of the accessories I wanted to take home. Brekken got to watch me argue with my father on the proper method to strap down an 831lbs motorcycle in the trailer and did so with a smile the entire time.
I bought my motorcycle from Vern Eide as it was the best overall deal on the bike I wanted and was worth me driving 7.5 hours round trip not once but twice...and the reason Vern Eide will be the first dealer I reach out to when I am in the market for my next Indian will be because of the service I receive...
Read moreAbsolutely the perfect place to buy a bike from, if you want to be treated horribly. ESPECIALLY if you are from out of state, wanting to buy online. Sales Manager Zach will be more than willing to pressure you into an offer and then not honoring it. Salesman Micah will be happy to answer the phone, accept your full price offer, that Manager Zach was pushing, then be too busy to relay that to the sales team, who will conveniently sell the bike out from under you, two hours after the offer was placed. Exceptional sales team, if you have lots of time to waste and to be treated like your money doesn't matter. Take your business elsewhere, unless you have time to waste for free. Lots of other dealers will be happy to actually stand by there word, not be conveniently unavailable, and actually communicate with the rest of there sales team to give good customer service. Best learning experience ever, can't wait to spend my money elsewhere....
Read moreTried to make a trade here. Low balled me to death. Salesman said expect a call from management, but no call. Made a few phone calls to other dealerships and was able to get 6k more than Vern eide offered. MSRP on new bike was slightly cheaper, so took a road trip to pick up a new bike. Their radio commercial should be fixed because definitely not customer focused. Had the same issue at the sister store. Couldn't find anybody who wanted to sell anything. Sales staff standing around while a customer is ready to purchase. My wife had to go get sales to help us. Sadly the guy we got had no insight on his product knowledge. He acted like we annoyed him and he rather be at the bar or McDonald's - selling something was his last thing. I'd definitely shop around before ever buying...
