It took me several days to convince my daughter to go up to the #CrystalMill on our recent trip to Marble, Co. She finally said yes the day before we were leaving so we reached out to a local recreational vehicle rental company but they said it was too late in the day. So we found and called #CrystalRiverJeepTours and I am so glad we did! Sam immediately said they could take us up later that afternoon and instantly texted us not only very clear instructions but also provided us all the details about the town (where to find Wi-Fi, gas, food, etc), her love and passion for her town and the people was obvious. Once we arrived at the meet up spot we were delighted to find out that Sam would be our guide for the tour. Itâs important to point out that both my daughter and I are very scared of sketchy roads but Sam was amazing! She effortlessly handled the bumps and turns in the road, forward and backward I might add, pointed out waterfalls, flowers and plants and told interesting facts and fun stories along the way.
Once was arrived at the Mill a fun photo shoot pursued with Sam showing my daughter and I the best spots and sharing her tips and tricks for great photoâs with us! This was truly a phenomenal adventure and we had a great time with...
Read moreI meant to write this review more than a month ago, as I've been showing everyone I know photos from my Lead King Basin tour and telling people on virtually a daily basis to check out Crystal River Jeep Tours if they get the chance.
I take a fall trip in the mountains every year, and a Jeep tour through this company has been on my bucket list for a long time. Was I setting myself up for disappointment with such high expectations? Not a bit! My newfound friends from Colorado Springs and I piled into the 1983 Scrambler with our driver, Steve, who was absolutely fantastic. We also got lucky in hitting the absolute peak for fall color on this September Sunday; the conditions could not have been better. I could have spent this five hours in stony silence and had a great time, but Steve's knowledge of the area and professional driving skill made the experience that much better.
Criticisms? Only if I nitpick. I really wanted to see the Devil's Punchbowl, but Crystal River wasn't offering the "Smitty's Special" tour at the time, though this tour is described on the company web page. I really hope they bring this tour back next year - if they do, I will absolutely take it.
P.S. The Crystal Mill is as great in person as in all...
Read moreThe actual tour of the Crystal River was amazing as was our tour guide Chad. He was very knowledgeable about both the areaâs history and wildlife. The reason I am giving this 2 stars is because of the owners. On our way back from the tour the Jeep broke down which delayed us about an hour and a half. We learned that the owners have 6 different jeeps available, yet only 1 was running which is the one that broke down. Why they refuse to pay for maintenance on the other 5 Jeepâs is beyond me. Itâs obvious if your using the same Jeep for multiple tours a day that it wonât last long. We eventually got a ride back to Marble from someone who didnât even work for the tour company. When we got back we asked the owners if they would be willing to offer any discount due to the issues with the Jeep. They werenât very sympathetic and got very defensive. They claimed they wouldnât be giving us anything because they got us back âsafelyâ. The tour was 85$ per person (we had 5 people) and the fact that they wouldnât even give us 10-15$ off is astonishing. They obviously donât know much about customer service. Overall I would say the tour was very enjoyable, however the owners lack of remorse really left a sour taste...
