It's probably been 20 years since we first discovered this place. We were driving around when we passed this little driveway, turned around and drove in. It was an amazing place. Tall pines, no underbrush. Best of all, no people, just the wind whistling through the pine trees. There is a long crescent beach, the island close offshore, a very peaceful place to spend time. I went through the pictures at this site and, of course, saw where someone felt the need to spray paint their version of "art" on some rock face. I hope it has since been cleaned off. I also really hope that this lovely area is never turned into a campground, and any improvements are kept to a bare minimum - no structures, no shelters, no encouragements to cross over to the island. But even more effective than my plea are the frequent hoards of fierce biting flies that come to feed on flesh on the most beautiful of hot summer days. Not kidding. Their bites are very painful. Clouds of these little vampires will chase you away from the lovely beach but not faster than you can run. They are the stern guardians, the winged warriors trying to keep the beach pristine. Obey...
