Great peaceful hike with some wonderful changes in scenery and a couple nice views. I followed a loop trail with the Yellow -- Blue -- Pink marked trails. From the map you can see all 3 marked vistas/outlook views as a single loop. Loop was a little over 2 miles total.
Yellow View - some rock benches & views of the river and statue Blue View - rocky ledge & forest views Pink View - single bench & river view (I had to stand on the bench for best clearing)
Most difficult trail taken was the Blue trail, with more rocky steps and sections to be mindful of. Blue trail ascends to the ridge from either direction, but from the Yellow (and possibly Green) Trail that direction was easier than the reverse. Non-Blue trails had softer paths with few scattered rocky sections.
Paths were well marked by the color trail. There were instances where I was unsure of which direction to go and scanning for the always present color (on tree, rock, or post)...
Read moreBeautiful Fall day for a hike...it was a half hour hike to the bench with the beautiful view of the the Susquehanna river and the Rockville train bridge...the hike was a little challenging...we heard the green trail was easier taking you to the view of the Statue of Liberty in the middle of the Susquehanna river...next time we'll come earlier and hike the entire...
Read moreNot as easy as I had expected after reading the reviews. It is one big climb up the mountain taking the green or pink blazes. The trees covered a lot of the view. Did some bush wacking to avoid having to take a longer route around the mtn to see the Vista from the top....worth it....for at least a one time climb up...
