It was a perfect warm autumn day for a boat ride down the Tug River. Our captain, Keith, is a historical treasure trove of information on all things Matewan and the history of this small town is super interesting.

Even if you're not a boat person, the river is really shallow and the air boat glides effortlessly over the water. No waves or splashing.

It was $60 per person for an hour tour and well worth it. Captain Keith even walked through town with us afterwards for an extended history lesson. He was fabulous and I highly recommend...

Wow! That's how I have to start this review. What a great experience. Put this on your bucket list. I've seen swamp people on television and always thought the airboat experience looked so much fun, but that tv show comes from Louisiana...who knew west virginia also offered tours? I wish I could give this activity 10 stars! Riding on an airboat is fun and unique and to have a guide that is really knowledgeable about the true stores of the fued sends this activity to 10 stars. We learned how the Tug River earned its name and knew where burial sites, coal mining strike and other history stories. I highly, highly recommend this activity!...
