Very peaceful place regardless of your views of CL’s contributions to flight or politics. Hidden for a reason unless you do your research before going to this part of the island. What else I like about it is that you can have a picnic lunch (if you bring it) on the same property where a park is located (Kipahulu Point Park) Northeast part of property. There are two picnic tables there. Good views when peaking through the fence. I think a neighborhood cat lives in the area and may join you for lunch. The driveway in and out is next to a horse farm. You may be able to take a few snaps if they are along the rock wall. In my case they were a few days ago. Old church is nice and leave a few dollars in the slot just before you walk in on the right hand side. Easier to get to now that they paved that desolate part of the island. No...

So who is this guy and why is this a landmark? Well this man right here was the first person to fly across the Atlantic Ocean and was a big celebrity in his day. The flight was brutal and so long he was fighting sleep deprivation induced hallucinations by the time he crossed. What’s he doing here? Well after visiting Maui he fell in love with it and after developing cancer in New York and hearing from doctors that he has 2 weeks to live he flew here from NYC saying he’d rather live a day in Maui than a month in New York. He lived here for another week and wanted to be...

The road to this place, either from the North or South, is the worst I have been on in the US. It is a one lane with switch backs, broken roadway, cliffs, falling rocks, and numerous obstacles before you get there. If you must go, arrive from the North and take a jeep. Be aware, that 3 of the locals followed us in and stalked around while we made our way back to the car. They could have been OK but you have not phone service or anyone to call if something goes wrong. Just be aware of...

Peaceful graveyard which includes a respectful final resting place for Charles Lindbergh, and many other local residents and dignitaries. Nestled between a centuries old church which is still in use today, and the Pacific Ocean, you can hear the waves washing up on the rocky cliff line below. Visitors are welcome, but please respect the reverence of this special place and any services which may be in progress.

It's definitely beautiful and interesting. But if you are in your own vehicle, be aware that the road to here from Hana to here is even tighter and sketchier than the road to Hana. We had limited time and needed to decide between this and the Black/Red sand beaches...for the amount of extra time it took and what we saw, I wish we had chosen the beaches. 🙁

Visited this grave site and church on a road to Hana tour and it was peaceful. It’s a small church on a beautiful piece of land. The grave is right next to the church and it’s a good reflective spot to think his life achievement and yours as well. It’s a quick stop with no restroom but again you get to see the church and grave site in a beautiful place.
