It is with a heavy heart I write this review, but I write it in hopes that someone there takes the time to read these and decides to take much needed positive action. The lake itself is beautiful so the rating is getting 2 stars. I have been coming to this spot since I was a child and have religiously been bringing my own children here since they were babies, sending my oldest off to college on the west coast next week. Was excited to have a “last square lake family day” before she leaves, most of my family drove 35+ miles to come here, I come all the way from Hastings. It was heartbreaking disappointment. While the place has been in need of improvements for quite a few years, I understand the Covid impact, however during Covid I came multiple times a week and the place was packed. I still have realistic expectations of the economical impact and the nostalgic little gem this place was. There seems to be zero minimal maintenance at this point, the tables are all barely holding on, praying for some TLC if replacing isn’t an option at this point. The flies and bees were so horrendous you could barely eat, or even hold a conversation, I’m guessing someone cut spraying for them from the budget. The prices have gone up, which is fair, if you raise them to provide the same experience. To make matters worse the staff was rude and over charged a few people in my party. Unless I see improvements made I would not return, and would not recommend and I want to want to...

What a disappointment!
The site to park our trailer in was smaller than anticipated and they just put fresh grass down and gravel down. It is obviously because of the flooding of that particular site.
Our site was C 11.
We were told by Manager Maya when we got there that only four spaces are available for daily/weekly rentals. If we knew that in advance, that would have told us so much more about this terrible place.
We paid in advance for five days ($405.00!) expecting much better. The majority of the trailers there are permanent and rundown. They have obviously been there for a long while. Mud roads in/out allow you to get STUCK.
NO REFUND EITHER. $405.00 what a rip-off!
VERY DISAPPOINTED. RUN AWAY FROM EVEN CONSIDERING THIS CAMPGROUND.
Stillwater has a reputation as an upscale community and area.
This “trailer park” is an absolute P.O.S. with mud/muck/dirt/unsightly areas and junk throughout the area. Look at my photos for proof!

Read moreAs a family we have been going to golden acres / square lake for decades . Today we all met had our 4 assigned picnic tables and were so disappointed . The place including the tables are so run down and the BUGS were atrocious . They have raised their prices to get in ( which I was fine with and expected ) until we got to the gross tables and were surrounded by so many bugs and bees you couldn’t sit there and have a conversation without swatting them away continuously let alone try to eat . My guess is they used to spray for bugs and decided not to this year 🤷♀️ and the woman working the window was downright RUDE . We all had conversation and have decided we will NOT be returning . We have great photos and memories of the place when it was taken care of . DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY FOR A RUNDOWN BUG INFESTED DIRTY PARK WITH...
