Absolutely wonderful time! We visited on a Saturday evening, a week after they re-opened for business. We arrived around 6:30pm, half an hour after the gates opened, and there wasn't much of a line to get in, maybe 2-3 vehicles ahead of us. The benefit of arriving early was that we had plenty of open spots to choose from. We parked next to our friends and let the fun begin. Grass was mowed, and the facilities were in good working order. Then we went to the concession stand. This is my only real knock on the place....there is only one service counter at the concession serving hundreds of people through the evening, so the waiting line was long. But.....the wait was not that bad considering the length of the line. The gal taking the orders was super nice and very efficient, and the people making the food items and putting together the orders were really good so you didn't have to wait too long after ordering to get your food. Prices were decent, and food quality was on par with movie theater food, so we were pleased. The movie itself was fun. Don't expect HD clarity. It's an outdoor theater. Regardless, it was super fun. There is an area in front of the screen that's open, and kids are allowed to play there to get some energy out. You get movie sounds by tuning your FM radio to a specific station, which was easy to do. The overall experience was great, fun, and something we're going to do again for sure. The only knock I have is the singular concession line, but this place just reopened after almost a decade of being closed, so something tells me they'll eventually fix that. Overall, it was a great experience. Highly recommended, especially if you...
Read moreWhen I write a review, I look at what a place is supposed to be. The Belmont Drive In is a classic old school drive-in that reopened after being closed for about 10 years. Are there bugs that need to be worked out? Sure. They are minor and will be resolved soon I am sure.
Drive-ins like the Belmont should be considered a national treasure. They represent family time, a sense of community, simple fun and offer a great value.
Belmont Drive-in has new digital projectors, with a crystal clear image, sound delivered by FM radio to your car or portable radio and reasonable prices at the concession. The parking spaces are on a gentle slope with the screen at the bottom of the "hill," ensuring there isn't really a bad space in the lot. SUVs and other tall vehicles park to the side to make sure no one's view is blocked.
Movies are generally first run, but it looks like they have plans for classic movie nights. I am interested in seeing what they do.
Outside food and drink is not allowed. This is a very reasonable policy because movies are expensive and any business needs to make money. Like I said above the concession prices are reasonable, and at $25.00 a CARLOAD, you can afford to support the business and buy a burger. Belmont is being reasonable and patrons should be too.
Finally, the staff and owners seem friendly and are continuing a family legacy we can all enjoy. I know I will be back several times a season bringing family and friends, plus a couple of folding chairs, bug repellent and portable radio.
I am 100% grateful that we have places like this and encourage you to support a...
Read moreI have always loved the drive in! Before tonight I would of given the drive in a 5 star. I've been to the Belmont drive in since I was a child. Tonight my family and I waited in traffic maybe 200 feet away from the drive in (if that far). I was very surprised to find out that at before 7:30 the drive in was full! Awesome business. Great for y'all. BUT my issue is, NO ONE cared to announce that the drive in was full! We were waiting in traffic and no one cared to announce they were full. Someone (a worker) should of came out with a mega phone or sign stating they were full. Once traffic cleared a sign should of been put out for any other cars expecting to come see the show. Do better y'all, very disappointed.
ALSO last time we did go to the drive in. I wanted to respect their rules. I'm a type 1 diabetic and had been having issues with high blood sugar. Causing me to be very thirsty, drinking lots of water. So I did ask if I could bring in my water , knowing I would have to buy more. That was a big no. There was no exception. I had to pour out my water and wait in line for another. Anyone who knows this thirst. It's very extreme thirst unfortunately. They need to be less anal about snacks and drinks. What if I had a low BG and needed to eat. My options are, get caught and kicked out for breaking the rules, or wait in line for God knows how long at the concession stand without passing out.... I'm giving 2 star only because of my positive childhood memories at...
