Attended the Hotel California concert last night. Arrived about 7:15 pm. Concert started at 8:00 pm. Went to Sunset Deli to grab a bite to eat. It was packed with NO seating. People sitting at tables watching TV with no food or drink. Others sitting around killing time after finishing their food while several people with food stood holding their food and drink trying to balance everything while eating. Had looked online at menu before arriving. Many items on menu they didn't have or were already sold out. Not much of a selection left. You would think they would have back up made up to restock knowing they would be serving people attending the concert. Went to order, cashier kept repeating the order wrong. The one thing I requested over and over, I wanted crispy, well done fries. While I was ordering a rude customer reaches in front of me and grabs some silverware, napkins, etc... although she could have got the same items next to the self serve drink counter. She keep reaching for more stuff while I'm in the middle of ordering. Finally she says, I have to do this I'm having a panic attack and need to eat. She finally starts to walk away so I resume ordering. She comes back, steps in front of me and starts asking cashier if they remembered this and that on her burger. (Gee lady, you can't lift the bun and see for yourself) I felt like the cashier should have told her she would have to wait until my order was completed. Finally was allowed to finish my order. Tried to find seating but nobody was polite enough to give up a seat. When my order was called my husband picked it up. Fries were barely cooked, and tasted like they were cooked in old burnt grease. Yuck!!! Cashier failed to give us ranch dressing as I requested 3 times. I returned to the counter and waited and waited and waited. While waiting I heard another cashier say they had 2 other soups and 2 different types of sandwiches NOT LISTED ON THE MENU OR LIST OF SPECIALS. She admitted they were not listed and announced she didn't know why. This pissed me off. Had I known, I would have rather ordered one of the unlisted soups. You can't order something you don't know is available. In the mean time husband found 1 seat at a table. He let me sit, while he stood and ate. I considered our experience unacceptable. Went on to the concert, which we enjoy for the most part. Lots of inconsiderate people standing up blocking the view for anyone behind them. Many casino employees constantly in and out the doors to the casino. This let in bright light to a dark room and constant casino noise while band was play. Casino employees also having conversations with concert goers next to and behind us durning the concert which was very distracting. The band however was good and I would recommend attending their concert if they were playing somewhere else. I'm done with Cher Heights. I gave them 1 star in consideration for the band only. Very poor and unsatisfactory experience with...
Read moreI was a casino executive for many years as a Director of Player Development and Hotel Operations and other positions at two Southern California Native American casinos and I can tell you my experience at this casino was, by far, the worst experience ever.
There were TWO major exceptions. A tribal member bartender/cocktail server who was one of the best guest service-oriented employees I have encountered who knew how to treat people well. And the nice older woman who worked at the gift shop. The gift shop and the cool bar that sometimes has cool bands were they only places I spent any real money. Now onto the verbal beat-down cause the pen is mightier then the sword.
They allow smoking, need I say more? They do the usual casino manipulation of turning up the heater and air conditioning to make you hot. They allow smoking everywhere. The one cool thing they should have is a view of the ocean but the steakhouse is the only place with the view and it did not open until 5 or 6pm. The ignorant, old, fat, white security didn’t tell me the truth when I asked where the bar was and instead told me to “sit down and play a machine and we will send the server over to you.”
Oh, also, the older lady at the players club who said she had worked there for 12 years was cool. And her supervisor who had a baby yoda button and a scar on her face and red hair, she was cool too. All should leave immediately and be ashamed of themselves for working for such monsters.
Anyways, back to the slamming. They don’t have a hotel. The whole casino is one room. They have bingo but it was not open. But they didn’t even lock the last door so I could have gone in and stolen some stuff if I wasn’t honest.
They still have plastic barriers at the cashier, they don’t offer credit if a high roller wants to get high rolling, they seemed to have no high-end casino hosts for high-end people like me and their table games were all closed and their machines were tight and not user-friendly or modern games and their players club system never allowed me to play my free $10.
The gift shop had the tea I like and a nice set of earrings made by an actual tribal member because I support the tribe but not the casino. I bought the earrings and gave it to my nice hotel front desk person at my nice hotel two towns away.
Other than that, this place is...
Read moreTrinidad, a gem in Northern California, never ceases to astonish with its natural beauty and inviting ambiance. Tucked away in this serene haven is The Heights Casino, a destination that offers both entertainment and a touch of luxury in the midst of nature's splendor.
Stepping into the casino, one is immediately struck by the expanse of the gaming floor. Spacious and meticulously organized, it offers an array of games tailored to every preference. Notably, for those familiar with the nuances of roulette, they adhere to California Roulette regulations, ensuring an authentic gaming experience.
But the casino isn't just about gaming. The bar area, expansive in its own right, stands as a testament to their commitment to provide a well-rounded experience. On the evening of my visit, the bar was animated by the tunes of a live band. Though their set was relatively brief, the mood was heightened by their spirited performance, which paired beautifully with the myriad of drinks the bar had on offer. If you're a connoisseur of spirits or simply looking to quench your thirst, their selection is bound to impress.
For those moments when hunger pangs strike, there's a convenient 'quick bites' section. Whether you're in the mood for a caffeine fix, a snack, or something more substantial, they've got you covered. A unique touch is the availability of functional microwaves. Though I didn't personally utilize this service, I believe it's geared towards guests who might want to warm up their own meals, adding a touch of homeliness to the whole experience.
A noteworthy mention is the RV parking situated just across the street. It's not only conveniently located but also ensures that your stay in Trinidad is hassle-free. Just remember to check in at the casino and register your details.
In conclusion, The Heights Casino stands as a harmonious blend of entertainment, convenience, and a touch of luxury. Whether you're a Trinidad local or a traveler seeking memorable experiences, this establishment promises an engaging time. Safe travels and may fortune favor you...
