I've been to a few climbing gyms and this one is not bad at certain times. But just about every time I come here I can't get a climb in, there is no room to stretch, and there are about 50 kids under the age of ten all over all the equipment. It's basically a waste of my time when i show up and there are kids everywhere. It's not safe. I can't get on any equipment without waiting 30 minutes or being rude. There is a boulder in the middle and the kids are hanging out on top of it. The employees and parents aren't paying any attention. I just got a membership, because it was free for a month, but before that i would walk in and have to wait for an employee to notice me at the desk. Not a gym for anyone wanting to get a workout. If you want to bring your five year olds so you don't have to watch them, then this is the place for you.
Seriously, the kids aren't even doing anything except crawling on everything. There are serious safety risks when little kids are running around with no notion of what's going on around them.
Please get a handle on this. Have a kids night. But not everyday. In other climbing gyms there is an area for kids. And they are not allowed in the other areas for safety reasons.
Oh, and all the routes are barely labeled. They are improperly rated. And sometimes you just have a picture of Bruce Lee instead of a rating. Colors on routes are not clear and often end up confusingly close to routes of...
Read moreI'm not one to hate on a place but, I've been going to rogue rock gym for about 2 years now ND am disappointed on how outdated ND broken everything is in the gym, old ripped floor mats, screws everywhere, holds breaking off the wall, half burnt out lights, cobwebs EVERYWHERE! I haven't ever seen a change in the cleanliness I've only ever seen more kids running around leaving food in climbing areas, ND spilling drinks on the already stained floor mats, very rarely I'll even see adults eating chips in climbing areas leaving crumbs ND trash. It's sad to see a place with so much potential having no care or concerns at all to make the only rock gym we have a good one, it's almost more of a playground for kids. maybe it's a money thing maybe Its an owner issue but daum you'd think by now it'd be somewhat cleaner? Or even more professional when it comes to who they hire or how they train their staff, I've seen different times staff members being unprofessional ND un safe or even inappropriate, but I've also seen very rarely staff members actually doing their jobs. Either or this is a negative review hoping that maybe even just a little bit more effort can be put into this...
Read moreI have to share an experience I had at the Rogue Rock Gym today. My 8-year old son was there on a field trip today, and had reservations about climbing. He had a wonderful time climbing the walls with the harness attached, and decided to venture onto the free-form climbing rock in the center. He had fun climbing that as well. However, fear struck him hard when he got to the top (please don't mistake this for being a scary rock, or scary thing to climb - it is very manageable). The reason I am writing this review, is to show extreme praise for the staff at Rogue Rock Gym, specifically Dylan and Ian. I ended up going to the gym because my son would not come down, and was very scared. All told, he resisted for an hour, but Dylan was extremely patient, compassionate, and talked my son through the entire process. Eventually, he even carried him down safely off of the climbing rock. Dylan and Ian even demonstrated what the process would look like for my son. Dylan went above and beyond the call of duty, and I am extremely grateful for his patience and taking care of this particularly difficult client :-)...
