For 30 years in Bellevue it was first time we were run out of the business property - firmly and unceremoniously. We arrived 10 minutes before closing time - it's our best, we both working. My wife knew what she was looking for, she was actively picking herbs, so as another customer with two kids. 5' before 6pm middle age man showed up and took away trays. It's obviously won't help customers to finish their business faster, but probably made that employee to fill better. However, couple minutes later two nice girls brought them back. Then a young gay shows up and asked if we need any help. 'We are about to close', he said. Obviously, we know that you are about to close, we visibly in a hurry picking up herbs, but Ok. In a minute he showed up again and said 'we a close now. You need to go to register'. We went to register and had to wait becasue register was busy with that customer with the kids. A few employees were staying around, waiting. No one open another register to help us/kick us out faster/. We don't mind at all, but if you just seconds ago were so eager to go home asap, why don't help?
Nice girl behind register told us 'they are here since 9:45! What?? 8 hrs workday + 30' lunch brake make 6:15 pm end of work day for staff! If a store closed at 6 pm it doesn't mean that employees stop working at 6 pm! But not there.
We made a good effort to arrive before close, made purchase for $70+ less than for 10 minutes, and in 6:06 pm were inside our car. I felt like we were a good customers. However, I'm not going to bother anymore. Goodbye forever, Wells, herbs...
Read moreOk, this is a little long, but have to share, regarding my time at Wells Medina Nursery yesterday. I had the best time walking around this nursery for over an hour looking for ideas for my yard. They have so many ideas available for all different applications, plant types, location, color schemes and what you want in your garden or want to attract to your garden like hummingbirds and butterflies.
The nursery has a great layout and plants are easy to find on the nursery grounds like annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, ground cover, border plants, ferns and succulents. I’m sure I missed several as the list goes on and on. I was even lucky enough to find a ‘Persian Chocolate’ Creeping Jenny for my big front entryway pot.
The staff is top notch, very knowledgeable regarding plant choices, colors, grouping and availability. Note: Not all items are available year round like any other nursery. I found out, the Allium I want won’t be in until after mid September, but no worries will returning in the fall to buy some.
While talking to one of the staff, she recommended when I come back to bring a sketch of the garden and where and if the sun will hit the area. She said if I’m looking for a special plant or just want one a certain color and height to note that and they will help me fill or design my garden layout. This being said this service is not offered at most nurseries but Wells Medina is above and beyond the normal run of the mill nursery. I’m super excited to get started on my new shade...
Read moreWhen I learned of this place I was excited to do business with them however from my personal experience I quickly realized something different. I won't go on in details however with how our society is today I was handed a full dose of this societal trend and treatment. I am a woman of color and a business woman who has had a colorful life of travel and encounter so when I was received the way I was I must say I was disgusted, had I walked in with a thirty thousand dollar diamond ring and a husband with high recognition I'm sure things would have been treated a bit different and notice I say "a bit" because the fact is I am what I am and they saw me as that alone. I had an appointment with the owner and buyers only to have my time displayed as a spectacle of a joke, as I feel I was intimidating due to my status and educated representation but to have the owner sit back and watch me from a far or near and not introduce herself is disgusting and on trustworthy. I have had many encounters and experiences in my life and nothing is new but by far this is the newest to have someone sit back and observe you as if you are specimen of some sort when originally you're to be there to meet this individual and they not introduce themselves,,,, it says so much. I am happy I didn't do business with them and I will advise all I know to Never give them their money and to take their money elsewhere, To a place where you are welcomed for who you are and your...
