Directions and attitudes are terrible. It is absolute chaos everywhere you look.
We were heading to the Paddocks in the North, overlooking the start line. But we used Uber to get us there. Every gate was closed except gate 3 in the south. Our tickets were at gate 1 in the North.
We couldn't get our tickets and they couldn't bring our tickets to us because they do not allow re-entry. So our hosts brought us our tickets by walking from gate 1 to gate 3.
Then we were told that we couldn't bring bags in. Our small bags with wallet, glasses, sunscreen, etc. We're too big.
So we had to get a locker. To get a locker you have to download and create an account for the lockers. We did that and then it locker was broken and the door would not open. We had to pry the door open.
We put everything that was in our bags into our pockets and hats and went in. Then they would not let our host back in because of the re-entry policy. We had to call and wait 15 minutes for a manager.
This is what a $5000 VIP ticket gets you if you don't arrive by helicopter :)
Once we finally got to the paddock restaurant, it was excellent. Flawless.
Once the event was over, it was back to chaos and mayhem. Cars crashing, people screaming, drunk people falling down stairs. Uber at gate 22 only.
We gave up on Uber because it didn't make much sense to walk a mile for an Uber when there was a yellow can right there at gate 3.
We got in what might have been the only yellow cab in Miami that didn't have Satnav. Maybe none of them do, I don't know. But I fired up Waze and watched as the cab driver took every wrong turn he could possibly make. Our 30 minute journey took almost an hour and clocked up $90 with tip.
Summary. It is a wonderful venue if you have a helicopter that drops you where you need to be. If I had a helicopter, I wouldn't be writing...

Read moreI’ve been to F1 races in Japan, Singapore and now Miami. I have to say Miami was a disappointment compared to others in terms of a race vs. a show.
If you love the F1 race then Miami is not for you but if you love “over the top” fashion and people watching and partying this is your place.
Don’t get me wrong I am glad we went but we are huge race fans and were disappointed in the overall racing experience.
Other than your seats there were very few places to see the track. Yes there are little peak holes here and there but you could not stand there for long as they were in cross walks and bridges so you had to move along.
The track had very few jumbo trons to watch the race when walking around. I’ve been to many different races in my life - lemans, Rolex 24 hours, Indy etc and no matter where you were you could always see the race on a tv. Miami is missing this, yes there are a few but to few.
The track workers, servers, support staff and police were awesome! So helpful and supportive!
Would I go again? Not sure. A bit over the top for me. I’m a race fan and don’t need all...
