On April 10th we ordered an LG Wash Station with the extended warranty and delivery. We paid the extra thinking somehow this would assure competent install and coverage. Scheduled the delivery for April 30th, however, when the day came, the delivery company had a person out and we had to be rescheduled. No big deal, but this is a rental property, so traveling 4 hours round trip to make it to the rental was not appreciated. The next time for delivery is established, get the call they will be there at 10:00-12:00. Head out and travel the two hours to get there, then get the call, the unit was damaged and was not on the truck, another two hours back. The third time comes and this time we do have the machine, but none of the parts, can't install because the work order did not include all of the instructions that were clearly on my receipt, another wasted 4 hours. We called the Cape May Courthouse store and spoke to someone in appliances, where we were assured they have no ability to help us as the deliveries are outsourced and that is not their problem. Fourth time is a charm, right, no it is not. They have the machine, they have the tools, they have everything they need, but claim they can not install because there are too many stairs and have to call the office. I try calling Home Depot, surprise, no way to talk to someone. Approach the delivery person about allowing me to talk to their person as well, when I was told to shut up and go talk to whoever I was calling. Unbelievable, not only is this the fourth time, not only am I losing money paying for renters to use a laundromat, not only have I been charged two months earlier for something they can not figure if they can deliver, but I have a rude delivery person looking for a way out of work! I told them if they were going to be disrespectful they can leave, evidently they only heard leave. So now you are thinking, Home Depot will call and straighten it out, no, I have to call, wait on hold for another hour, discuss the situation with the customer service rep and cancel the order. Where once again Home Depot took no responsibility in the vendors they hire to perform work. Now you would think they would credit my account immediately. Once again, wrong, after two weeks, I had to call again to actually get them to credit the cost of the machine against my card, the whole time blaming us since it had been more than 30 days since the order. This experience has essentially caused me to never again to look to Home Depot for anything, no matter how small the item.
Update, bought same unit from a different store, they took it apart and brought it up in pieces. Unbelievable...
Read moreThe Home Depot has the right name. It's the right place to go for so many things for the home. It's the place where serious customers go who have real needs. You'll find contractors buying their materials there. You'll find the DIY'ers who want to do repairs, or make improvements and make their home a nicer place to live. It is not mistaken for a department store, like that other place. Home Depot doesn't need to look pretty. They just need to have the goods, and they do. Now, if you're a customer who doesn't have all the answers on how to do something, or what the best product is to accomplish your task, Home Depot has the answers. The location I give to, on Indian Trail Road in Burleigh, or CMCH, NJ, has really good people there. I went once for a cleaner I had researched for my electronics, and at Home Depot I saw that there were a few different types of that cleaner. Which one should I get? A Home Depot employee walked by, an older man, and asked if I needed some help. I figured he'll never know, but I told him what I needed to do. He did know the right can, and he handed it to me. Turns out he used to be a TV repairman for years. He knew electronics. Later, when I did a little more research before I used it, I found that he steered me right! That's just one example. I have had a woman cashier, over by lumber, give me the perfect solution for buying a metal sheet I needed to cut. She saw what I was about to buy. She suggested a sheet I had not seen, that was cheaper and that I could cut easier. It worked perfectly. When one employee couldn't help me, he got on his phone. A manager came over and, once again, he had a solution for we hat I needed. Never underestimate anyone working at Home Depot. They hire knowledgeable people, and they can give you the help you need. If you already know what you need, great. You can get in and out of there in minutes. I often stop in and I'm in and out of there in minutes with the product that will work and let me...
Read moreVery disappointed. Let me start out by saying I usually shop at Lowes, but since I couldn't find the product I was looking for on their website, I went with the next closest hardware store chain. I wanted to pick up a special sheet of plastic, and thought it would be easy since I researched online and found the price, and even aisle it would be on. When I got to the store, the first employee who I asked didn't understand what I was looking for, even though I had the printout with store code for the item. He looked it up and pointed towards the opposite side of the store. Not sure if he was just trying to get rid of me or was actually sending me in the right direction, I asked for a second opinion. I wish I hadn't. I explained to the second employee in the Carpets section what I needed and he replied "What is it?" in a quizzical tone. I thought he may not have heard me so I repeated myself more clearly. He said in a more demeaning tone "What is it?". I then explained it's a type of plastic material. He then told me that they don't have it. I pulled out my phone and loaded up the Home Depot showing him the product number. He then pointed me towards lumber... ugh. After the third and final attempt I was asked by employee, told him my situation, and he kindly showed me exactly where the product was. Only after 3 employees I finally found what I was looking for.
I'll...
