I dropped off my Chevy Aveo at Shea Motors, Middlebury, VT, at 8 a.m. to have the A/C looked at; it was blowing warm air instead of cold. The Service Repair Shop did not notify me of an estimate of costs.
Nevertheless, they proceeded to work on the A/C, without my consent. The very same day, around 4:30 p.m., I called the dealership to inquire about the status of my vehicle. I was not put through to the service consultant. Instead, the phone operator relayed that my car had been ready to be picked up since 12:45 p.m. I raced down to the garage right before they closed at 5 p.m.
The service consultant insisted that he had tried to contact me, but my phone had gone directly to an "out of service" message. His story did not convince me in the least, as my phone had been on that day. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, he never tried to place a second phone call, which suggests some very suspicious activity on Shea Motors' part. One alleged call sufficed in their customer service department. It was left up to me, the paying consumer, to get in touch with them. I never succeeded in reaching the service technician via telephone; his secretary gave me the okay to come down and claim my car.
The $200 odd-bill was completely excessive: $140 for labor, $70 for parts. I strongly recommend that one avoid Shea Motors in Middlebury, VT at all costs. I most definitely feel taken advantage of, and totally kept in the dark. The strange part is that I was sent into an isolated office to submit my payment. Money was never discussed between the Service Department and me. It gave me the impression I was being "shooed" away, so they wouldn’t have to witness my reaction to such an exorbitant bill.
To any one that is considering taking his or her automobile to Shea Motors, think it over twice. Only later on did I discover another Google review about Shea Motors, which contained many of the same negative experiences: no notification whatsoever on Shea Motors' behalf, shady business/customer service practices, etc.
In summation, take your automobile to a different garage. The Service Department will feed you every excuse in the book to make up for their numerous faults. I can declare, with the utmost conviction, that Shea Motors in Middlebury, VT will take advantage of the customer in the end. Never again will they receive my patronage. From now on, I’ll take my...
Read moreI was in for an oil change and a tire rotation with the 37,500 mile all point maintenance check with my 2021 GMC. I don't know what was done, my paperwork did not show anything about a maintenance check. I would assume that would include topping off fluids and checking air filters, etc. Unfortunately, I do not believe that was done or that my tires were rotated. The tire pressure was higher in my front tires than my rear tires when I arrived. When I left the pressure was the same indicating that the tires had not been rotated. After driving the pressure remained the same. Hence, telling me that they were not rotated. I did not realize that my inspection sticker was 01/24, so I was due for an inspection. I was approached and told that in order to get an inspection sticker I would need front brakes and rotors at $ 700. I was taken aback because there was nothing wrong with my brakes. I was informed that I had a good 50% of my brake pads remaining but there was some rust on my rotors. It is Vermont..... Knowing my car was driving well, my brakes were working well, I did not have any warning lights on, no grinding, squealing or shaking of the wheel. I declined a $700 brake job. I had 2 different people take a look at my brakes and rotors and was told that they were fine and inspectable. I then made an appointment with a Vermont State Inspection Center. I watched as they put my car on the lift, checked every little detail from my brakes and rotors to ball joints and ti-rod ends to lights and tires. I was curious what they would have to say about the brakes and rotors that everyone had said were inspectable other than at your place. They took photos and without questions added a 2025 sticker to my windshield. I am disappointed that I was told I had to repair something that was not broken, was not rusted and was not worn beyond inspectable. I take pride in my vehicles and keep them up on repairs but it is rediculous to spend that much money on something that is NOT broken. It is a shame to take...
Read moreOne of the worst car dealerships I’ve ever dealt with. Not only are they shady they also have no problem leaving a veteran with a disabled child without a vehicle and no answers for weeks. They sold a wheelchair van to a desperate mother that had nothing but problems since the purchase. They also sold her a “platinum” warranty for $3500 which only covered 12,000 miles. Then after the vehicle left this mother on the side of the road she had it towed to a local service station. She reached out to find out how to initiate a warranty claim and was told by Amber that in order to have repairs covered she would need to have it towed to them. Once the warranty claim was made she would get reimbursed. The dealership is a 180 mile tow from where this mother lives. The tow cost her $676. After having the vehicle for TEN days they still had no answers and no solution, they hadn’t even diagnosed it for her to obtain a rental vehicle. I spoke with the service manager Kurt who was unhelpful and didn’t have any empathy to the situation. After getting nowhere with Kurt I spoke with who I was told was the sales manager Adam. Neither of which called me back as they both stated they would with some answers. After a few days and no answer from Adam the mother called once again to find out the status on her vehicle, Adam proceeded to tell her “this is the first I’m hearing of it” but in fact I have him on audio recording so he’s a big fat liar. This dealership will go to any lengths to gain profit with no regard to the buyer whatsoever. They’ve got no regard for a disabled child who has a 600# power chair and leaving the mother with bo transportation to work or to be able to pick up her child. Living in rural Vermont with limited transportation options her only option to transport him costs a minimum of $100 PER TRIP. I would avoid this dealership at all costs. This chair of dealerships cares nothing about clients and only about lining their pockets. Absolutely disgusting and...
