Last week I was in Connecticut to visit with my sick father, & before I headed to his home I stopped by this shop to find some stones/crystals my father would be able to hold. (He is losing his vision, & I thought something physically tangible would be a better gift idea to focus on.)
The "owner" of this store was late arriving, despite the store being attached to what looks like her home... which meant we were waiting outside of her shop/house until she arrived to open the doors. There was no apology for her being late, & I shrugged it off as it became clear upon walking into this shop it was some older, middle aged womans way of post poning what should be her retirement.
The shop was overpowered with the smell of various incense which should not have ever been burned in such a small space.
Regardless, I stomached the smell (which was a mistake on my part) and picked out various stones from the owners selections, & made my way to the counter to pay.
The owner had no idea which stones were which, & spent the next 15 minutes taking each of the stones back to the area where I had picked them. I understand the owner needing to price correctly, but what made this a bit insane is that all the stones in that particular area were priced $1.50/$2.00.
The owner asked me which stone was which so many times I eventually just stopped answering her.
I found it absolutely ridiculous that someone representing a new age shop with crystals and pendulums, candles, etc has no education in regards to these items, or knowledge of how or why they're used.
This establishment feels like a store front created to keep the owner from getting too bored at this stage in her life. She has neither there customer service or knowledge to run this shop, & it's astounding this space has received any positive...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been going to A New Page since the early years, when she was located on Main Street, on the North End, in Middletown. Roughly 20 yrs or so. The energy when you first walk in, is calming. Miss Yvette is wonderful. So easy to talk to. So very knowledgeable. There is so much to look at, so much to buy! From gifts for a crystal loving friend or, a place where I could easily max out my credit cards! A New Page has jewelry and I was looking for a particular pendant that I couldn't find. I asked Miss Yvette about it and even though she did not have it, she offered to order it for me. Before I knew it, Miss Yvette was calling me to let me know it had arrived! Knowing that it was for me , as a gift for myself, Miss Yvette had wrapped it up and packaged it just like a present . I absolutely love the store and Miss Yvette has become family. I recommend A New Page to anyone and everyone who enjoys New Age stuff! And, if you're looking for something that she does not carry on hand, ASK! she just may be able...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will never forget the terrible treatment i received here. A friend of mine recommended we stop by and after seeing a vacant parking lot we went inside. After walking in a middle aged woman snapped at us and said āyou need an appointment thereās a sign outsideā in the nastiest tone. We didnāt see the sign and told her that and before she hesitated to kick us out she said we could look around for 10 mins. The whole time we were there she made us feel majorly uncomfortable when we tried to ask her about stuff she ignored us and proceeded to talk to the one other man there the whole entire time. Then on top of it all she starts to sanitize the store RIGHT next to us when we were still there... someone needs to talk to that woman about how to provide actual customer service because she was one of the rudest people iāve come across. youāre better off going to the crystal shop in...
