Update Where did my review on NBKR FB go then? I don't believe a word she says.
Former client here. Please see attachedments for proof. Shelie picks/chooses comments/reviews on her FB and blocks unhappy clients so they can't post reviews she doesn't like (therefore her ratings are manipulated/cannot be trusted). If they were accurate you'd see at least one negative one, mine. She can't delete them here. She can rally her friends to write nice reviews but it's so obvious as she has so many NEW ones today. š On some neg posts Shelie states she doesn't have a client by that name, well she doesn't have a client by my daughters name either but that didnt stop her from pulling her into a room to debate the situation before giving her my dog because she couldn't wait to talk to me personally (see attachments). She unprofessionally drug my daughter into my business & without my permission, which only escalated the situation. She was rude, overtalking my daughter and then cussed her out. She followed her out of the room making snide comments further escalating it. My daughter responded with same, going back & forth with Shelie. She had no right to involve her in the first place. It was a breach of confidentiality for her to discuss MY business with anyone but me (or my husband) including my daughter, unless I give permission. It may not be HIPAA but it's a good professional business practice to be discreet. I called Shelie after that & told her if she had something to say, say it to me, not my daughter. I'm sure it was discussed with all her friends who posted NEW reviews today. The attachments have details, in a nutshell we lost a English Bulldog to respiratory issues due to heat so we are very aware of what can happen. We remind each time about her not going outside & they assure us she doesnt. I bring puppy pads for her & Henry (as to help keep their rooms clean). Usually about half are gone from each bag at pick up. This time I put in 8 and only 3 are left. I find it hard to believe they used 5 in one day on a dog she HAS to take outside 3 times a day. Petsmart doesn't take them "outside", they have indoor runs, same as NBKR. So Idk why she can't use her pads in the indoor run. It's it's a problem let me know, don't take my $ and ignore simple requests. There was another incident at pick up in August. My husband lifted her to put in the car & remarked that her whole under belly was wet. We didn't request a bath & they again assured me she hadn't been outside. I suspected then (and am sure now) they had her outside in a kiddy pool. The Report Cards are a joke, at least in my case. Either they are generic, randomly sent out (which if so is not a true account of their day) or they are accurate and Hailey is "playing with her friends outdoors". I can see it happening once, like it did in July, but then to get another one 2 days ago... You'd think they'd be more careful or at least get everyone's story on the same page after the first time. In all the pictures, & we have more, she is actively panting with her tongue out. When I called Tuesday the lady who answered said she sent out the report cards and put what the guy who was with them told her she did (but Shelie has an explaination for that). I asked to speak to manager but she was at lunch. With so.much conflicting information we decided it best for my daughter to pick her up. I was civil in the communications and it should have been a simple, uneventful pick up. I'm not deleting posts, blocking people, telling clients other clients interactions so they will post positive reviews. The truth always comes to light. It may be from former clients (like the lab with skin issues) or a former employee. I'd like a refund on the 4 daycare days I have left on the books. I was cordial in messages to her and she seemed cordial in her last message to me as well but that was before I told her my daughter was going to pick her up. It turned south from there. I was blocked from her FB because she didn't want me leaving a review...and she deleted my comment but not before I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTL;DR - wonderful facility but dog owners will not be told about safety incidents that occur.
Up until a few days ago, I loved NBKR. My dog and foster dog had been many, many times for both daycare and boarding. I have referred and sent new clients their way countless times in the past few months. However, I am no longer sending my dog to NBKR, and I cannot in good conscience recommend them to anyone else.
Hereās why: the owner will not disclose to you if your dog has gotten into a fight or was attacked.
Recently, my dog was attacked while riding the bus. Heās fine, other than being a little scared now, but if I hadnāt seen it happen myself, I know I would not have been told. In fact, the owner of the other dog never found out it happened at all. If I hadnāt reached out and told her it happened and everyone was okay, she would have never known.
I reached out to the owner Shellie to talk to her about it. She gave me a few excuses and changed her story a few times. Even went so far as telling me it was illegal to disclose dog fights/attacks (thatās why she called them ātussles.ā) Luckily, Iām a lawyer, and looked into it. I let her know that there was no such a law prohibiting disclosures, and her response was non-existent. I am not convinced I can safely recommend sending a dog there if I donāt trust that incidents will be disclosed to dog owners.
To be clear, the employees did nothing wrong with how it was handled when it happened. It was an unfortunate incident that could have been much worse.
Until I can trust that dog owners will be informed about safety incidents, I will not be recommending NBKR.
ETA after owner response: the bus drivers saw the extent of my dogās injury ā it was minor, yes, which is not what I was concerned about. It still took 2 employees to remove the dog off of my dog, resulting in her employee getting bit. Her employee even gave me a paper towel to wipe the blood off of my dogās face.
When I spoke to Shellie, I had her clarify with multiple questions about her dog fight disclosure policy because it sounded so strange to me, especially given my background and knowledge of NC laws. I even informed Shellie that I was uncomfortable sending my dog to a daycare that would not disclose if something had happened. I did not need to know who the other owner was, as I saw it happen and knew the other dog. I never asked for the disclosure of that information.
My dog went back two days after the incident despite my reservations because this was still playing out. I was hoping Shellie just misunderstood the law and what she could or could not disclose. I learned the morning of the only day my dog went back (48 hours after the attack occurred) that the owner of the other dog STILL had not been notified by Shellie that her dog had attacked my dog. She was only told he had fun and played all day.
Initially gave 2 stars because I appreciate how much Shellie gives to fosters and foster dogs. Removed one star because of the lack of accountability for this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been looking after my parents English Bulldog Hailey while they have been on vacation this week. Sunday afternoon my parents decided to have her boarded at Natural Breed Kennels Resort where they take her occasionally to take some of the weight off of me & my siblings as we watch her while they are out of town. After losing their first English Bulldog Ruby to respiratory distress while on vacation in Charleston years ago they are super cautious with Hailey & would rather have her boarded to be on the safe side. My mother has asked them on numerous occasions to please not let her go/play outside bc anyone who has English Bulldogs or other bully breeds know they can over heat or go into respiratory distress easily & are sensitive to heat. While keeping her on several occasions they would send my mother "Doggy report cards" stating Hailey was "Having fun playing outside" or "Having a great time playing with her friends" in the middle of July & again today in September when it was 87 degrees & posted pictures of her clearly outside against their wishes. When questioned they told my mother she wasn't outside although there were pics posted of her today were clearly outside & they went against her requests. When I dropped her off Monday afternoon she had JUST been groomed 30mins before & I asked them to please not take her outside or have her in the pools as she had just been groomed but all of that was disregarded & they posted a pic her of once again outside. My mother messaged the owner & told her she had asked them to please not do that & she again denied her being outside although pics & "Doggy report card" stated otherwise so we made the decision to just pick her up & play it safe as they are not capable if following basic instructions. When I went to pick her up after work this evening I was confronted by the owner & pulled into a side room where she was rude, confrontational & dismissive. I stated why my parents were extra cautious with her & there was ZERO empathy but plenty of excuses & lies that were contradicting. I was unable to get a word in & the only explanation i was given for the "Doggy report cards" were that she "only pays her employees $11 an hour & they are human & make mistakes". I wound up being cussed at & screamed at & treated less than human bc she was unable to answer my basic questions & kept getting caught in lies. I strongly suggest anyone who considers using this facility to not walk but RUN in the complete opposite direction bc they have zero regards for your animals safety or your wishes. If I could give them zero stars I would. Completely...
