I drove 40 minutes there just to get ride service. She wasn't very friendly. I didn't feel welcome. As I was ordering my food, I felt like I was at a McDonald's drive thru because of the kind of service I had because I felt like I was being rushed. I get my food, I asked for red onions and sauerkraut on my hotdog and I also ordered the loaded baked potato salad. I didn't get red onions, there was some kind of red sauce on it. I took one bite of the hotdog, and immediately spit it out. It tasted spoiled, the sauerkraut was definitely spoiled. I took a couple bites of the potato salad and it tasted like it was sitting out all day and put back in the refrigerator. It had a really bad sour taste to it. I walked back and kindly whispered what was wrong because there was a customer behind me, and I didn't want to make a scene. She gives me a disgusted look and yelled "SPOILED?" I said "Yes, I mean it could just be my taste buds, I don't know, I'm sorry" She says "Well I've been selling this all day, and it's not spoiled" I said "I dont know, I'm not usually the type to go back and complain, but I drove 40 minutes and spent almost $40". As I was talking, She closed the window in my face. Both my brother and I got the same toppings and aame hotdogs, we've both thrown up multiple times. I can rest assured you, they were definitely spoiled, they did NOT taste good at all. I was so nice the whole time, I didn't deserve to be treated like that as a paying customer. Read moreFinally tried The Dog House after driving by here many times - always has looked like a cool spot. More people there than I expected, just because of the size and location.
I was a bit disappointed in the service from the person taking orders, and looking back at prior reviews now, it is evident there have been others who thought the same thing.
Part of this was them seemingly not being pleased about having to explain that the regular size hot dogs can’t be ordered with their home made bun (only the 10 and 12 inch hot dogs can be), and also that there was a $10 minimum for credit card usage. I’m sure both of these things come up very frequently with orders here, so maybe some additional signage would benefit everyone.
Otherwise, I felt that the person’s tone was a little too negative, especially compared to a similar hot dog place I went to recently where the service was exceptional.
Still solid overall - the home made hot dog bun was very good (I have had better though), and the other person who handed me my order was friendly. I will say, I’ll be more likely to return to the other place that I referenced, because of their fantastic service, even though I would rank here as having the...
Read moreI had been wanting to try this place for a couple years. For Mother’s Day I asked my family to drive half an hour each way to try this place. I was so excited. I asked the woman working which toppings she’d recommend. She seemed soooo annoyed that I could ask such a dumb question. She made me feel really small. Her whole demeanor was off putting. She took the order behind us before I was even done telling her what we wanted, so I decided not to order more than what we had ordered to not bother her. Maybe she was just having a bad day. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt (although reading other Google and Yelp reviews show this is typically behavior) and wish happiness to fill her heart. The food was mediocre. The hot dogs are nothing special and pencil thin. The homemade bun taste like any other bun. Don’t ask for napkins from the woman working or you’ll get a rude look. The shops did have cute Christmas items but the man working also couldn’t even give a hello or crack a smile. I’m assuming he’s married to the woman working the hot dog stand. BAH HUMBUG! I...
