One thing I look forward to summer for is the fairs for hot sausage. Last year we went to the Center County Fair. It was hot and miserable but, I had to have my hot sausage sandwich. I looked at the food trucks to see which I wanted to get my sandwich from. Finally, I found the one!! To my delight there was a fresh cut French Fries truck right next to it!! It was a small young family who ran them both. Very nice people. When I tell you that the sausage I bit into was the best I ever had, I jest you not. I found out talking to them where their sausage came from. Yes, it took me a year to find my way over to Penns Valley Meats (as I am not local) let me tell you I kick myself in the butt for not doing it sooner!! A few weeks ago I went down and got myself hot sausage 10/10. This time when I went I also got their salt and pepper sausage just as yummy. Definitely worth the trip, that is roughly a 7 hour round trip when I...
Read moreI've bought several steaks and some smoked cheese from them. On one occasion I ordered 12 Delmonico steaks and they were horrible. Tough as groundhog and smelled and tasted like meat from a old milk cow. Had to throw them out. Outside of that, everything I've eaten from there has been fine. My major complaint is that I have never met such rude people in my whole life. I'm 77 y.o. These people always have a frown on their faces and will literally argue with you if they don't agree with your observations. They have never said thank you for your purchase. It's a really sad and ungrateful place to do business. Maybe they hate themselves or each other so much they take it out on their customers. Could it be...
Read moreI'm always looking for a drive on a Saturday morning. I Googled "Butcher Shops" and found this gem over 60 miles away from us. We come up once every couple of months now. The meats are fresh, they have a very large selection. Some of the best ring bologna I've ever had and some of the best ground beef for burgers. If it sounds funny to rave over a butcher shop, you have to make the trip. As soon as you step out of your car, you get smacked in the face with the smell of a smokehouse, and once you walk in, everyone is welcoming and very helpful. You have a permanent...
