SAVE YOURSELF THE WASTE OF MONEY NOT ONLY AT THIS PLACE BUT ALSO FROM TAKING YOUR PET TO THE VET I will make sure to let everyone know to NEVER bring a pet they care about to this facility.
After numerous emails back and forth and $5,000 later from taking my dog to the vet after boarding her at this facility, the management and their response to customer concerns is a joke.
After picking up my dog at this facility from boarding for 8 days (insane money), I noticed something was wrong as my dog usually has a very bubbly personality, but came home very dull. She threw up that same day and I noticed rice in her throw up, which I found odd because the facility never told me that they were adding it to her food. Later that night she began having diarrhea and it followed into the next day. I became concerned and brought her to the vet after I noticed blood in her stool.
I obviously didnāt know what was going on and neither did my vet so they had to run many diagnostics. The vet noted that all of my dogās paws were inflamed and raw and that her stomach felt out of the ordinary. As any owner would do, I called Green Leaf. I was placed on hold for 5 minutes and was told that their manager is collecting my dogās documentation of her stay and that I would get a call back. After having to leave my dog at the vet for numerous diagnostics and waiting almost 40 minutes for a call back, I decided to call them myself. All of a sudden, someone else who I havenāt spoken to before told me that the manager was leaving because she was sick. No call back to let me know that she was leaving in the first place.
I get called to come back to the vet for results and the vet now informed me that my dog had to get hospitalized due to an increase in her pancreatic enzymes (seen in her bloodwork), severe dehydration, something being stuck in her intestines (seen in an x-ray), and a loss in weight. She was brought to this facility at 71 pounds (weight taken before coming to this facility by a vet for all necessary shots) and came home at 66 pounds.
After numerous phone calls to the facility, the manger refused to reach out to me and give me necessary information on what happened with my dog during her stay. According to emails and phone calls during her stay, she was doing well and eating fine. However, the results at the vet said other wise.
After over 24 hours of no contact from Green Leaf, their manager finally called me with not only an attitude, but absolute dishonesty. I found out that when she was supposedly collecting documentation on my dogās stay according to her staff, she actually wasnāt even at the facility. She continued to tell me that my dog refused to eat when she first got to the facility, which no one contacted me about, so they had to add chicken and rice to her food. Donāt you think maybe call the owner of a dog before adding food to their diet? When dropping her off they asked me if adding parmesan cheese was ok if she wasnāt eating and I approved that. However, never did I approve chicken and rice nor does chicken and rice cause diarrhea in my dog. I then confronted them on the fact that my dog lost 5 pounds at their facility in a span of a week and they claimed that my dogās check in weight was 63 pounds, which I fought back on because I knew the weight my dog came in at. After looking into my dogās medical records, she hasnāt weighed 63 pounds since the end of 2023.
After hospitalization and IV fluids, numerous emails back and forth, and money down the drain, the manager refused to share any ādocumentationā of my dogās stay because there isnāt any documentation. Itās inconsiderate to withhold information like that on someoneās pet as theyāre trying to figure out whatās wrong. Possibly illegal too.
They refused to take accountability, pay for her vet bills, or at least provide a refund of her stay at Green Leaf since it was complete chaos. If anything like this fell into my hands as an owner, I would ensure that compensation for at least something was provided for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAnother update: Management still will not provide a copy of the records from MY dog's stay there. They claim to be truthful about my dog's care; however, they refuse to provide an actual copy of the documents. I'm sorry, but if I need to contact an inspector, then I suppose that's the route I'm taking. It shouldn't be this difficult for transparency if you have nothing to hide. Terribly disappointed with this place. Don't bother with trying to work it out with them either, all they do is blame the customer and the poor pups who experience this negative environment.
The ONE positive I will note, the front desk staff were very friendly, which is very appreciated.
Well, here comes a lengthy review of what I thought was going to be a well-maintained, great pet hotel/boarding facility. I wish I could have given zero stars, but that isn't an option, unfortunately.
My dog stayed at this facility for 6 days, and I advised the facility ahead of time, given that they ask for medical history, about my dog having bladder stones several years ago; therefore, she is on a prescription diet for urinary care, and she most certainly needs to go out to use the bathroom several times per day. I texted about every day that she was there to see how she was doing, they were worried about her not eating much at first; however, they said she was eating by the second day (supposedly). For the first few days besides the not eating much the first day or so, the days following each day they said she was doing great, no problems, etc. About the 4th day or so (Saturday, i believe), I get no response all day after sending a text in the morning, no report card that day, I sent another text in the afternoon, still nothing, then finally, my husband called 2 or 3 times before closing time since he didn't get an answer a few times--they said she was fine and doing great, finally sent a photo of her, etc.
Well, the day we picked her up, no one made mention of anything being wrong while she was there--I didn't find out about her having 2 accidents until today when I spoke with the Manager after I had requested a copy of the records showing that supposedly staff took my dog out several times a day while she was there Wednesday through Tuesday, and I only found out after I explained to the Manager that the day my dog came home 1.) she drank water as if she had not had water in days, which is very unlike her and unusual; 2.) she was shivering out of nowhere the first and second day I brought her home, and she keeps licking her private area constantly since I brought her home from the facility on Tuesday. These are usually signs of a UTI and given that my dog has been fine for several years now without any UTI or urinary issues (I have her checked very frequently by the vet, so I have plenty of proof), I find it interesting that she is now experiencing UTI symptoms after staying at Green Leaf in Millstone. No one called to tell me she had accidents, and they didn't call any of the contacts I left on the paperwork either. The Manager laughed and questioned me as to why I didn't care for the services provided at this facility, so I did not appreciate that either, as I care greatly for animals and greatly for my dog. Do yourself a favor and take a look at the numerous complaints made by staff at this facility on Glassdoor, and it goes to show that this facility may not be all it appears to be, as many have mentioned it's far understaffed and not kept clean in the boarding areas. That shows a lot about this facility, and maybe you should not overcrowd and board more dogs than what your number of staff can handle. My dog was drinking water like she hadnt had any for DAYS, and she never does that. Between the accidents and dire thirst, Green Leaf's Manager claims "that's normal". Well, what you consider normal doesn't seem normal to me. Clearly, improvements are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOur fur babies are essentially our children, they are family, and we treat them accordingly! So, when we needed to board our sweet but traumatized rescue dog, I scoured the area for what I thought would be an awesome place.
While they were okay (ish) with communication, they failed in one MAJOR and TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE wayā¦. Our baby got some sort of I jury on her snout and THEY NEVER CALLED NOR EXPLAINED THE INJURY!! That is a massive breach of trust and I should have given them 1 star. However, I think this place has a lot to offer if they address some glaring issues.
Iām assuming that the injury happened during her grooming on the last day. I went through the update pics we did receive and the Injury wasnāt there. That DOES NOT make me happy.
Now, I know accidents happen. And if we had been called or even if they talked to us about it when we paid and checked out, I would have been much more understanding. But they said NOTHING! And we were never given any info or updates regarding her last days or the I jury!
We boarded her for 3 nights and purchased a lot of treats and activities for her. It cost about $800. Our baby is worth it and weād happily pay that for top notch care and service! But to have sporadic communication at best, lacking updates, and then an unreported Injury??? Oh nooooooooo!!! š¤¬
We saw the injury when we put her in the car and I was livid. My partner said it would be best if we waited until we got home and called. I havenāt been able to get in touch with a manger yet, but im hoping to speak with someone who can clarify what happened. Please note, the past week has been insane on our end so I havenāt been able to reach out to Greenleaf the way I normally would. So itās not entirely their fault that I havenāt been able to get through since picking her up. But it IS their fault for not contacting us when the injury happened or at check out or even afterwards.
This place looks nice and clean, from what I saw. But we werenāt allowed to go past the lobby. It looks like a high end resort. I wish that they hadnāt broken the trust.
Bottom line - Because of what did (and did not) happen, my trust has been destroyed and now im questioning what else they did or did not do. Was she treated well? Did they dump her in a cage for most of the time? Did they give her the room we paid for along with all the treats and services?! I have no proof that they did and without trustā¦. I have to think the worst.
So, considering the very high end cost, I have very high end expectations. When I pay about $800 for 3 nightsā¦. Itās not unreasonable to expect the very best. Unfortunately, I do not feel like our baby received the very best.
We will not be returning.
NOTE: in the pics, you can see the really bad one that actually went Into her nostril! Itās not as easy to see in these pics, but she also has an I jury across the top of her nose. It was like a burn or something?! The crust fell off to leave another slash across the top of her nose. This was not an easily missed injury! In the picture of her in bed, you can see the gash across the top of her nose after the crust fell away. Itās slowly healing, but...
