As an American, born and bred, I know very little about finding unfamiliar, exotic items in an unfamiliar store. I would first like to say that I wish that I had remembered the guy's name who helped me find every item that I could not locate, on my own, in a million years. He was running a cash register when I approached him before closing on Tuesday, frazzled and giving up on life, as I was tasked with finding items that I could not only NOT pronounce, but had no idea if the items in question were of plant, noodle, grain, fruit, vegetable, condiment, medicinal, frozen, dried, even edible or not. Is it room an air freshener or a dessert??? Anyway, the man saved my life last night, and he was patient and kind, given the late hour and few employees. I'm older now, and the ticker might cave under the stress. Ha.
Now, regarding the grocery store......I have never set foot in this store before in my life. I was unfamiliar with its contents, but I've been around my fair share of international markets and, more often, regular old neighborhood markets. Here's my first impression: It's a small store, but do not let its size misguide you into thinking that it is not well-stocked. It is. To the brim. Seemingly endless brands and varieties of this or that. The vegetables were fresh and stocked as well as expected at that hour. There is a counter area with confections and candy for sale. Even at the time that I arrived to shop, it appeared to be very popular, as it was abuzz with shoppers. It felt like a beloved, family-owned grocery store in the sticks of Tennessee, except with way more and exotic options....and, however, not in the sticks of Tennessee. It's not a bad thing.
Yesterday, I was in a massive hurry so I did not get a chance to get to know it better. But, I plan on returning and spending more time familiarizing myself with the merchandise and ingredients, within. 5-stars for the customer service that I received. What could have been an atomic disaster became a pleasant experience. And, therefore, this Cherians has become a place where I want to go and spend my money, and to find inspiration and ideas by incorporating new, exciting ingredients into my regular cuisine. If you, too, are clueless, like me, yet, want to captain your own culinary adventure? Your voyage starts here. ...

Read moreStore provides variety of Indian groceries at competitive price. In the morning and noon we saw them providing sugarcane juice and tender coconut water but not in the evening. It tastes good when we had sugar cane juice once. They provide grocery product brands of Laxmi, Indian spice land, Mayoori, Double horse, Kitchen treasures etc. They have some plants for sale and have Indian snack items like samosa, vada. Another thing is that they have different cooked breakfast items like puttu, chappathi, Paratha etc. One issue that I saw recently, there was mismatch in stacked product with the pasted price tag and in some places the rate was not mentioned. It's difficult to find the price of some items before billing. Wish it could be rectified soon.
Be alert while billing because the billing person may not notice the discounted rate of something and they may enter the original price. That occured to me once with the rate of banana. There were both discount priced banana and the original priced one. We took lower rate one and they billed original and we didn't noticed it until we...
