They are a good district with a focus on the activities that draw in funding or have large constituencies such as active ballfields and the Senior Center. I live near the Milwaukie Senior Center and field complex. During the winter season, when the ball fields are inactive, focus could easily shift to the heavily used dog field areas which are used all year long in the same complex just north of the Milwaukie Senior Center. Yes, the crew does a great job cleaning out trash at the dog parks here and leave dog bags in many locations, but there is no attention by the District to the muddy/wet ground conditions in the two fenced areas which is very disappointing. They see it and hear about it I am sure. Both dog use areas need varying degrees of attention, and most of the owners present when I visit, voice the same concerns over and over about the ground conditions this time of the year... I have only been here one seasonal change... It is tough enough to walk around with the uneven surfaces and rocky ground conditions during the Spring and Summer, it is made more difficult when it rains and ponding occurs along with a great deal of mud. It would be very useful for the management of the District to actually visit the dog fields or have Senior maintenance staff report on what the conditions are at the dog fields they have for residents to use for their pets and identify a strategic plan to make obvious improvements to poor ground conditions. Contacts I know of with senior management by various residentis has gone unanswered...other than posting of signs about proper care and attention of facilities by users/dogs. There is plenty of space available for the District to consider adding more grassed fenced areas and rotating use areas or to make the effort to improve the ground conditions for residents and their pets. I hope they make the time to do something meaningful soon. It is a nice amenity to have for area residents and their dogs, but it is not well maintained by the District...visit the complex and it is easy to see conditions at the dog park on any given rainy day and you can see for yourself where the focus goes in maintenance at the complex...it is disappointing as there is no need to have such poor conditions in the dog park with ample attention to design, construction, maintenance and use...not just keeping doggie...
Read moreUnfortunate experience. I went here around 1 pm with my 6 year old son to hit some baseballs. When we arrived there were two fields unlocked and a staff member packing up some bases. No one else was around. I asked if we could hit some balls on one of the fields and was told “No you may not, I’m locking them up.”
It was sad to be have to try to play some baseball on a patchy uneven field right next to four locked up baseball diamonds. Maybe I missed a sign or a policy on how to access the diamonds. Won’t...

Field park near dog parks have drinking fountains with dog/low options as well as kid and adult height. Dog parks are flat but have bark chips where it gets muddy when wet/no grass. Larger dog park has gates at both ends. I wanted to walk the rose garden but wedding photos were being taken and we didn't want...
