ICA Food Shelf — Local services in Minnetonka

2 locations - this one is past Exc Blvd. on south end of Shady Oak Road on K-tel Drive (just past McDonald's). Easy to get to. Easily accessible. Just need proof of residency like an electric bill to show your address. (Call ahead if not sure what to bring). Covers several cities (still want to say towns). Volunteers are nice, helpful, kind. 1 is assigned to you. There is a set number of items you get from each category. Except for a couple like bread. Because I have special dietary needs & can't eat from several categories, I ask if I can take an extra from one's I can & usually I can. Although the amount of organic & other speciality items are usually limited. But now with more stores carrying this, it's better stocked than even 5 years ago. It's definitely worth going. You can pick what you want. Some food shelves give you preached & for me that meant 90% inedible. ICA also has delivery but that is bagged but good if no diet...

This place is a great option for those who need food. I say this because people have the ability to pick your own food, unlike some food shelves that prebag or prebag some and have limited items to pick from. Although this place is wonderful in that regard, it feels like a tiny grocery store. Have a good selection for how big the tiny shopping store is. This is a very rich upper-end area, and sometimes things just feel like maybe they could be better because of that but unfortunately not the case. For example. -coffee and toilet paper and anything that would be in original packaging gets tampered with and put into different plastic baggies. The produce is definitely lacking. I am so incredibly grateful for this organization and the coordinators and volunteers that make it possible! The first time I went I was a little nervous and apprehensive but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The volunteers are beyond helpful and make the process easy and painless. Great selection, fresh produce and I always leave with enough to take my worries away until I am able to make it back.
