5th Street Ink — Local services in Missoula

edit since posting this the shop has blocked me on social media… edit #2 I’ve never commented on any of the shops posts, only engaged through messenger. So to say it reached harassment is pretty embarrassing on your end. Also, they offered to finish the tattoo, but I would never return to John after this coloring book tat mess, nor let a child predator tattoo me. I never came back because it’s an awful tattoo - and left scarring NOT FROM THE OLD TATTOO. So done with this shop. My tattoo and this business is laughable.

Very unhappy with the tattoo I got here a few years ago. Tried making that very evident to the “previous owner” and sent another message regarding the piece recently with no consolation at all. This tattoo left me with scars, and looks like a page doodled on by a child in a coloring book. I asked the artist, John, to put his own take on the reference I gave him and he basically slapped in on me with no attention to the underlying tattoo in order to cover it. I was told this tattoo would only take two sessions. $750 in and now I’m going to have to pay thousands for laser removal if I can ever afford it. First excuse from old owner for not helping me out and at least giving me a small refund was that john isn’t finished with the tattoo. I would never go back to an artist who left me with raised scars that have lasted years, and even if the tattoo was finished, it would still look like a page from a coloring book. The worst part is I had my sibling draw the mountains I wanted included and they’re not the same at all. He drew his own. New owners excuse is of course new ownership. I believe the artist should have to bite the bullet if anything, he put terrible work on my body that will probably be there forever unless laser removal becomes less costly. I wish I could take legal action because my tattoo is horrible. I’m embarrassed to wear shirts that...

This review is longggg overdue

Seth is a badass! I got my very first tattoos at 5th Street Ink about 2½ years ago, both in the same session, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. He was the artist for both pieces—one on my ribs and one on my hand. Seth is laid-back and chill, but also takes a lot of pride in his work. He genuinely wants his clients to be truly happy with their tattoos, down to the smallest detail.

As someone new to tattoos at the time, I appreciated how patient and professional Seth was. He walked me through and explained everything, made sure I was comfortable, and took great care to get the design and placement just right.

To this day, I still get compliments all the time on the tattoo on my hand (and without fail, specifically, every time I’m on an airplane, someone asks about it). People constantly ask if it’s fresh—even years later—which says a lot about the quality of Seth’s work!

The shop itself is clean, bright, and not the least bit intimidating or creepy like some shops can feel. Everyone I interacted with—whether on the phone or in person—was fantastic.
