If I could give this place no stars, this review would be better. My daughter worked for Kristi Gunkel a few days. Yet, instead of an interview, the way she likes to hire people is to let them work for a couple weeks and see if they like the job. I'm not sure if she pays them under the table for a tax break or how that all pans out, but it doesn't seem legit at all. The week we speak of was that of August 18th through the 24th. My daughter was supposed to work Saturday morning and came to me because she had previously thrown up and wasn't felling well at all. So she messaged Krisit and told her that around 7:50am. Kristi messaged back around 10am, telling Kaelyn that she has to work unless she finds a replacement.
Problems and red flags here... she wants a teenage girl throwing up on her floor???
Needless to say, my daughter's mom and I are split up. Her mom has the tendency to lie about our daughter, saying things like she's drinking (when my daughter is standing right next to me), that she is hanging out with people she isn't supposed to (again when she is standing next to me), and that she lies. I have the text messages to prove this.
So I decided to go into the mercantile to ask Kristi about my daughter losing her job due to lying to her. She didn't even recognize my daughter's name, nor mine. She recognized my daughter's mom's name, though... that says a lot.
I told her that my daughter's mom said that my daughter lost her job because she lied to Kristi. Kristi agreed and said she did lie.
I asked what she lied about when Kristi started to get into a tizzy, and pulling out her phone to read the texts messages to me. When I asked what my daughter lied about.
It was then that Kristi corrected herself and said that my daughter didn't lie to her, she just didn't show up.
I apologized to her and said that I'm not trying to be rude, when I looked at her and said, do you want a teenage girl throwing up on your floor? Mind you, this is probably the busiest week of the year with the Mitchell carnival being in town and Kristi decides to take vacation, leaving a bunch of untrained, unhired, teenage girls to run the store.
After that, Kristi had the audacity to then say that I smell like alcohol and she has to get someone else to listen to the conversation.
Mind you, this is at 1pm.
I told her that the conversation was done and that I wouldn't want my daughter working for someone like her, who wants sick children working while she is on vacation.
All I was trying to do was clear my daughter's name for supposedly lying to an employer. Yet the employer, Kristi Gunkel, is too caught up in herself to be truthful and even accuses me of drinking because I caught her in her own lies.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreCLOSED???! The 2 open signs were on and flashing. The store hours online state closing time is 10PM on a Saturday. I was excited to see they were open so late and looking forward to visiting this store for the first time. I arrived at 9PM and the store was closed. Really disappointing⦠PLEASE turn off your open signs if your closed and stay open until the stated time online or update itš This is the second day in a row the open signs were on and the store was closed. NOT A GOOD LOOK. Itās an easy thing to forget but also a very important step for customers. It is also standard to have store hours listed on the building and this might be the reason they donāt. If for some reason in the future the store is closing before the posted closing time a note on the door apologizing for the inconvenience would have deterred me from posting this review. Unfortunately I am from out of town and will not be able to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood was equivalent to a Huddle House. We expected something better considering the location, style, and efforts made towards decorating and implementing a cute little gift area. The waitresses were arguing with one another the entire time we were there. If one waitress stood in for the other, they would announce their lack of responsibility or that it was ānot their tableā. The waitresses made us uncomfortable by their demeanor and behavior. And as far as we could see, us and everyone else around us were waiting for at least an hour before being served anything to eat. We would almost always choose an eatery with quality over quantity, but this place lacked both so it was a hard draw. To top it off the staff were petting a local dog that had came inside the establishment and then returned right back to dishing out plates...
