Holliday Shopping Center — Local services in Montello

Nice home town true value store, most staff are helpful... However.... Paint center, think again. Staff is not knowledgeable nor helpful. Goal: touchup the wall after a water softener replacement in the closet. Brought in old paint can that was frozen by mistake to have new can of paint made. Staff used numbers from can but color match was for a gallon of paint but used in at quart can. Unfortunate staff doesn’t have a clue in the paint department. Staff mentioned to bring it back if the color wasn’t right. This was purchased on a Friday evening. Saturday we returned to the store after noticing the color wasn’t even close to have it re-tinted. Staff said the paint can was too full and couldn’t tint it any more. What? What? That’s right. If we tint it, we will have to recharge you… What? Really? They never thought of pouring a bit out to redo or start over to make a happy customer. Store manager then said that since you left with the can of paint, we can’t refund your money either. So, instead of a few touch ups on the wall, it’s a complete wall repaint. NOT a happy customer. Very disappointed they had no intention of making this right even after wrong color matching. Older Male employee working at checkout rubbed me the wrong way. Older female employee was looking something up on the computer for me & the older gent basically asked her to get out of the way because "He" was helping a customer. Excuse me sir... What the heck was I ??? I didn't go there just to visit..! It was rude & will make me think twice...
