My husband and I recently pulled into the parking lot of BD Technologies on a Sunday morning to briefly change our baby's diaper. Even though the business was closed, we chose the visitors parking lot out of consideration, especially since there were no signs indicating that the lot was private property.
We were there for no more than five minutes, simply attending to our baby, when a woman—presumably security—approached us. Instead of offering a polite mention that we were on private property, she was unnecessarily rude and dismissive, suggesting we go to a nearby Sheetz, despite the fact that we were clearly finished and putting our baby back in his car seat, preparing to leave. As visitors from out of town, with luggage visible on our vehicle, we clearly didn’t know there was a Sheetz a mile down the road and just pulled off as soon as we could to tend to our upset baby. We found this treatment not only unprofessional but also lacking in basic courtesy.
While I understand the need to enforce parking rules, this interaction could have been handled with far more respect and understanding, particularly given the circumstances. It's disappointing to encounter such behavior, especially when a little kindness and empathy could have...
