Miller & Sons Supermarket — Local services in Mount Horeb

If I could put 3 1/2 stars, that would be more accurate in my experience. While I do like the service, young people carrying my groceries out to my car and getting help when needed, and a pretty decent selection for a local store, I often find expired items. My family is vegetarian and vegan and I do appreciate the vegetarian and vegan options provided, but I always have to check the expiration date because half the time items are expired. I’ve had to return a few items before I learned to look, and instead of an apology or at least sympathy from the person processing my return, they “jokingly” said why did you do [buy an expired item] that? I’ve told the specific departments on a couple occasions about the expired items, but a day or so later I still found the items on the shelf. Apparently their policy is to leave everything on the shelf until it’s bought! Plus, it’s hit or miss on some produce, particularly fruit. Pretty small store than what I’m used too. Tried to find sesame seeds and asked a worker right away. She gave me 3 different aisles that it could be in! 3! She obviously had no clue. So I said are you sure, these don’t seem like they would be there. She said well we just re did the entire store so I’m not sure. No further offers of help. Just me and 2 toddlers traipsing around the store. I was almost to my second choice when a CUSTOMER came up to me and said is this what you are looking for??? I was YES YES IT IS! I said are you a customer and she verified she was and had overheard the lady giving me bunk advice! I was so happy I hugged and the kids even used their manners Thanking Her! Miller's store in Mt. Horeb did a fantastic job with food for my mother's birthday party. The pulled pork was excellent -- flavorful, moist, perfect. And the buns were tender and super fresh, like the staff must've just pulled them from the oven. We also ordered a decorated sheet cake. I really don't much like cake, but this one was fantastic -- hands down the best I've ever had. We ordered chocolate/yellow marble with whipped frosting, and I recommend it highly. People kept asking me, "Who made the cake? Who made the pork?" It was all delicious -- and the service was terrific.
