-10(neg) Stars!!! TOM HASSENFRITZ of T.H.E. Company is a very disrespectful and rude business owner. I had purchased a 2017 Bad Boy Maverick mower from him or rather one of his employees. The Maverick ha some oddities that would take some getting used to and after 6 hrs, it started to come around for the most part. My wife on the other hand, did not feel the same way and the mower had to go. She called T.H.E. Company to see what could be done. After a few calls and call backs she was finally able to talk to Tom Hassenfritz, the owner of T.H.E. Company. Tom seemed very concerned and he gave the impression of wanting to make the customer happy. He made the following offers on the phone to satisfy my wife's needs in a zero turn. Offer 1: Install the suspension seat onto the Maverick, remove the drive arm gas springs to soften the force required to steer and weld on a foot rest of some sort to give the operator a place to put their feet....No! Offer 2: Trade Maverick plus an additional $1000.00 and take home an Outlaw XP and finally, Trade even up for a John Deere Z915E with with the Yamaha EFI engine and only 20 Hrs. Arrangements were made for my wife to drive to Mt Pleasant from Muscatine and entertain offer 2 or 3, offer 3 being the most likely option. Lo and behold, after she arrived at T.H.E. Company, Tom Hassenfritz seemed to come down with a bad case of amnesia! Offer 2 was all of a sudden $3000.00 different and Offer 3 was a Deere Z915B, Had the Kohler engine and also has 150 hrs, oh wait, did I mention he wanted an additional $700 and change??? After conversing with others about the shady deals, my wife discovered that this behavior is quite common for Tom Hassenfritz so buyer...
Read moreBought a used John Deer from these guys a couple of years ago then it stopped working which seems to be pretty common for John Deer products. Was told they could pick the mower up in a week. Two and a half weeks later after multiple phone calls they got the mower. A week and a half later they returned the mower 'repaired'. The service guy informed me he had been out sick with the flu for a week so our mower hadn't been looked at till then. They replaced the cylinoid, which is located atop the motor and no problem to get to. I think as a non mechanic I could have done the job in under fifteen or twenty minutes. They billed us $133 for an hour and a half work! The part was about twenty dollars for a total bill of $176. Mowed for about an hour and a half and when I attempted to start the mower it wouldn't start, just like before. I called The Company and no one would answer the phone so I drove out to talk to them. They were very nice but offered no help other then to say it might be a loose wire, it wasn't, or that it was overheated and would likely start once it cooled down. It didn't. At $88 per hour, and let's face it they are actually charging four times that amount when you consider how long the repair likely took or should have taken. We just can't afford to put that kind of money into a used lawn mower. Tomorrow we are going to buy a brand new Cub Cadet at Tractor Supply and never spend another cent at...
Read moreToday I needed a mower tire repairs so we went to Mt. Pleasant Mowers as I had seen a flyer that they did mower repairs, walked in the store and not a single person came to greet us. We were there for approximately 10 minutes before finally I got frustrated and left. I drove a couple doors down to T.H.E company (which I should have done so originally) and was greeted almost immediately and helped! I didn’t catch the older gentleman’s name at the desk, but he took my tire and repaired it in about 10 minutes time! I came home and used my mower to thatch my yard, and it kept air the entire time! I’m super thankful for businesses like THE company and they have earned my business to keep! Now if I can talk my wife into one of the side by sides he had...
