Press Box Grill & Bar — Restaurant in Mount Pleasant

This would be our second time here as the first made me hope that the food would be better the second time around.... We came with friends at 5:30 pm on a Saturday night and it was quite busy as many patrons were watching college football which was nice to have in the background! The best part was our waitress. This place is quite large, and the poor gal had HALF the restaurant/bar to serve. She did a fabulous job keeping up with all the chaos this place dished out which was understaffed along with a new dishwasher who couldn't keep up, and so she improvised and gave us plastic utensils. This being said, the food was mediocre. I'm not sure how they have received great reviews on their food because it is over-priced bar food at its best. Nothing is clearly made prepped/here, with everything either frozen or dumped out of a bag. The side salad was the typical iceberg with grated carrots....and the french dip I ordered, came out with only two thin slices of roast beef and melted cheese on a small buttered and toasted fresh roll with a bowl of au jus that was close to the size of the sandwich (apparently ran out of smaller bowls). The roll was the star of the sandwich. Our daughter ordered the fish sandwich. It was just like a McDonald's fish filet, but the square fish portion😳 was a little larger. Husband liked his tenderloin BUT has had much better elsewhere. Will we be back? Yes, but until they figure out how to actually cook, it will be for a beer and a good...

I and eleven other people stopped in to the Press Box on 09-05-2015 for a late dinner. We decided to set outside as it was a nice evening and there was room for all of us. As we were sitting there the tables next to us keep lighting up (smoking), I asked are servicer to have them quite. Her repose was the food has not come out yet or something to that affect. She said nothing to them as she walked by. Hoping they would not light up again we waited for our food. Again they light up and nothing was said. I decided to go in and talk to the manager, when I asked, who I found out latter was also serving as the bar tinder, if I could speak to the Manager he told me he could help. I told him there were people smoking outside and they should not, he became rough and told me they could and stormed off. Well, as I suspected but to be sure, I looked it up in the code of Iowa this is not so. The IOWA ADMINISTRATIVE CODE PUBLIC HEALTH [641] CHAPTER 153 SMOKEFREE AIR; Section 153.3(2) Outdoor area: Smoking is prohibited and a person shall not smoke in or on any of the following outdoor areas: sub section b. So me and my wife and our two girls ate at the press box for dinner today. My oldest daughter ordered chicken strips and fries. My youngest daughter ordered a cheese burger and fries. My wife ordered a double burger and fries. I ordered a double burger with fries and fried chicken gizzards. The place was very clean, the waitress was very nice and professional. The presentation of the food was very nice. The buns were nice and soft ,with fresh lettuce and tomatoes and pickels. The fries are crispy and seasoned. Now, let's talk about the bad. The meat that they put on that good bun and fresh toppings was trash !!! I couldn't believe that they used nasty frozen or unthawed meat Patty's and put that crap on our plate. You could say, sir, it's real beef . I would tell you as if you had taken a polygraph test, That was a lie! It tastes like crap ! What a waste of money,and good bread and toppings. It tasted so bad we couldn't even finish them🤮🤮. When I say bad, I mean bad ! McDonald's has better burgers ! I'm truly disappointed. It was our first time going to the Press Box.
